One of the announcers for the Jets/Giants game on NFL Network just said that Victor Cruz played for the Jets in training camp and was cut because he didn't play well and then was picked up by the Giants.

I think that's complete bullshit. I've never heard of Victor Cruz in a Jets training camp.

    Anyone else know about this?

McKnight is just a dumb player. He runs into punter when he's nowhere near blocking the punt. Then on kickoff he runs out from 9 yards behind goal line - take it at the 20 moron!
    Plays like those cost games!

I might be totally wrong, but I could have sworn someone at one point said that D.J. Ware played for the Jets, which is correct. I'm not saying you misheard, but the announcer probably meant Ware.

That wasn't the NFL Network announcers, that was Buttle on CBS. And yes he's a buffoon. He's confusing Cruz being with the Jets with Cruz having a breakout against the Jets.

Incidentally the NFL Network telecast is blacked out here, they're just running different NFLN programming now.

Buttle said D.J. Ware played for the Jets. So must have been the NFLN announcers.

Yes, this. I heard Buttle say Ware too, but I knew Ware could have. Cruz just made his debut AGAINST the Jets. Can't believe an announcer would say something so stupid. Let's send him mail.

it was weird because he said some things like "he just couldn't make the team. he kept dropping passes. then the jets cut him."

I think Ware was on the practice squad before but i am pretty sure Cruz has never been with us. Retards.

According to Mara, Giants fans have Rex Ryan to thank for Cruz making it through the final cut. Cruz scored three touchdown passes to spice up an otherwise unmemorable preseason game between the Giants and Jets in the summer of 2010 and Ryan raved about him after the game. The voluble Jets coach went so far as to say he hoped the Giants cut him so that the Jets could pick him up. That helped the Giants make the decision to keep him because they felt sure that Cruz wouldn’t clear waivers and make it to their practice squad.

Ryan’s mouth hasn’t made him too popular with Giants fans over the last three years, but this is one instance where it seems his inability to keep his thoughts to himself worked out to their satisfaction.

"I hope they cut him,'' Ryan said that night. "I know one team that would be ready to sign him, and that'd be us.''

Team officials this week even confirmed to the Newark Star-Ledger that New York had decided to waive Cruz at the end of the 2010 preseason, and hopefully sign him to its practice squad, but changed course because it feared the Jets would snatch him up.

Are you really surprised? Rex TELEGRAPHS his next move almost as much as Sanchez. How many coaches announce 5-6 time during the season "we're running it 40 times next week!"?? Way to really surprise your opponent Rex. Why not mail them the practice footage too.
