Braylon Edwards played better than any of our receivers in the first pre-season game.

2 catches for 51 yards and a TD. When is the last time you saw a Jets receiver use that kind of athleticism/aggression to jump over the defender, grab the ball out of the air and land in the endzone? I know! When we had Edwards.

We should've kept Edwards/Cotchery and let Holmes go. Rather than keeping Holmes and letting the other 2 go. Said it since day one.

Oh wait! But we got Plaxico Burress for a year! He made our offense amazing...........

Just wait till Braylon burns the Jets defense, the uproar will be nuts.

I agree with OP. Braylon truly enjoyed being a Jet, Holmes just wanted a paycheck. It's inexcusable we didn't bring Braylon into camp this offseason to see what he had left. Tannenbaum has is wearing out his welcome, honestly.

Braylon always said he woulda taken a discount, he loved it here, he was Marks #1 target. I still miss him and will forever.

But the reason we took Plax was because Braylon was expected to make around 7-8 million. As that wild free agency played out, every team got the cheaper recievers they wanted and eventually it got to the point where Braylon had no interest from any teams at all which was shocking considering he was the #2 reciever heading into free agency.

I think if the Jets had known they coulda gotten Braylon for half million more than Plaxico, they woulda done it in a heartbeat. No one really knew his value was going to drop that low.

Jets had their chances to get him back. Tannenbaum was probably trying to lowball him.
Honestly I'm getting sick of Tannenbaum not getting this team the players they need to consistantly be a contender. Are we fans all blind? I don't think so. We at least know where this team needs help and Tannenbaum has not done the job. When Sanchez is on his back all year because he has no blocking and no body to throw it to Tannenbaum has Tebow to take over - great - a band aid. He should of fixed the real problem and Sanchez would be fine. Holmes did'nt hang the Jets out to dry - Tannenbaum did!

I'm glad there's other Jets fans out there that agree w/me. When the whole thing first went down I was furious that we were getting rid of Edwards/Cotchery and keeping Holmes.

Both Cotch and Edwards loved being a Jet and Holmes didn't. Sure, he played alright, but nothing amazing.

We made it to the AFC Championship in 2009 with Cotchery/Clowney/Smith and Edwards for part of the season. In 2010 we had Cotchery/Edwards/Smith and Holmes for part of the season. And Mark was a ROOKIE in 2009 and only in his 2nd year in 2010. Why the need to keep Holmes and let the other 2 go? Let Sanchez develop with the same receivers. Tannenbaum boggles my mind.

Oh but let's give a contract to the guy who was all about the money, and let's give him a ridiculous contract that essentially punishes us for cutting him for his bad behavior. Tanny has been dropping the ball lately. He hasn't addressed the line problem, he hasn't addressed our RB problem, and he definitely fucked up on the Chaz Schilens deal. I don't understand why we would give the often injured Chaz Schilens a contract over Braylon.

As much as I liked Cotchery and Edwards, they are gone and they aren't coming back. Move along.

I know, but the man that made these dumb decisions is still here. So it's still kind of relevant.

Tannenbaum blew it. He needs to admitt he blew it so we can move on. He needs to admitt his mistakes and promise he won't make them again. When this Jet team finishes 7-9 this season and Sanchez is constantly rocked for various reasons I don't want Sanchez taking the blame. Its not his fault. Its the poor offense around him. Poor talent.
Sanchez will take he heat but in my eyes Tannenbaum has hung Sanchez out to dry!

I remember the board I was on before this one (eventually got crowded with trolls), it was right at that time when the debate was Holmes v. Edwards, who should be first priority. Edwards had given one and a half seasons worth if solid platy. Loved being a Jet. Holmes had burst onto the scene giving us 12 games of great play alongside Braylon and of course Cotch. I was on the Braylon side. 75% of true Jet fans wanted Braylon back #1 and we hoped to be able to sign Holmes too, but "Jet" fans who just simply saw how Holmes had played in that stretch of 4 comebacks wanted Holmes. They didn't understand loyalty and how much Braylon really loved New York.

I really hope Braylon does well with Seattle, serves Tanny right to watch his mistake flourish in a place where he will be appreciated.

The problem with keeping Braylon last year is he DID want big money and was too prideful to take the same type of deal from the Jets that he eventually did from SF. It turned out to be a moot point cause he got hurt anyway, but I agree about this year, there was no excuse not to bring him in (or TO or someone else with actual talent) with how bad our receiving core is.

J-Co was a different story, he did want out and the team granted his wish. He saw what the team was becoming and got off the circus. Effectively he cut off his nose and his ear to spite his face, he could have been a #2-3 receiver as it worked out for a while around here making decent money, but instead went to Pittsburgh to be a permanent #3-4 guy getting peanuts.

Not for nothing but if we had let Holmes go and Edwards had the injury-plagued year he did, there would have been fire and brimstone coming down the other way with 'no' healthy starting NFL WR's on the roster going into this year. For all his ills, Holmes is one, well he's not healthy now but still.

Yep letting Braylon go has been a huge mistake.

Hes only had how many stupid incidents since he left us ?

And lets not forget that monster season with 181 yards and no tds.

Do I wish Braylon was a Jet, sure.

But enough with the bitching and whining, the guy has both mental and physical issues and needs to step the fuck up and show that he wants to be a legit reciever.

Theres a reason that the BEST 2 contracts he got were crappy 1 year deals with minimal money/guarenteed money.

If this guy was valuable teams would be fighting over getting him

    Enough is enough

And Braylon didn't want a paycheck? This is laughable. The ONLY thing you can get on the Jets for is not bringing him into camp this year for a look, and we don't even know what he's going to be this year. One leaping catch in the preseason tells me nothing.

    :rofl2:

So you classify fans Jets fans by opinion on players? The guy that wanted to be here, according to you, had a DUI while here and also got into a bar fight before FA started. See how it goes both ways?

Again to repeat it never should have been Braylon vs Holmes. It was chasing Nnamdi that was the huge mistake and not signing both. Neither one would have succeeded without the other one, and whether it was Braylon or Holmes starting last year, without each other, we would have still probably gone 8-8.

It seems like only yesterday the Jets traded up into the 2nd round to take a 215 pound 6' 4" 4.3 forty WR who was doing the Jets chant on the stage. They also picked up Jordan White who can be a contributor and last year grabbed Kerley.

The Jets are NOT ignoring the WR position no matter how much some people want to pretend they are.
