You're calling other people idiots when you don't even have your facts straight. He did enter the draft or he wouldn't have been eligible to have been picked up as an UDFA.

Also, it's "YOU'RE and idiot", not "YOUR an idiot". And stop with the attacks or you'll find yourself on the bench.

On a track, in shorts. He's fast, but looking at some of his play with the Gators, he didn't look like he had much for moves. Leon Washington looked much faster in pads with the Jets. Maybe because he had better quickness.

Without knowing the contract details, how much can an UDFA command?

It would be chump change for any NFL team to sign him.

He's actually going to be the fastest player in NFL history when signed based on his 40 time.

Vereen isnt just a 3rd down back, hes 5'10" 206 or so lbs, so he can get some carries inside the tackles, but hes also big in the passing game which is what the Patriots require from their backs.

No big deal. Eric Smith will stop him from reaching the endzone.

That's a good move by the Pats, it really addresses an area of need for them, at a relatively cheap price. While I didn't think Demps was or is going to be a star, I did think he would've helped us if he had signed with us. Oh well. Hopefully, he just stays as a KR, because elusive guys in the backfield with the spread offense of NE gives us nightmares.

I heard he was projected as a 3rd rounder until he decided to focus on track for the Olympics and didn't participate in any of the combine workouts, etc

    What?

    Sources: Demps picks Patriots

    By Rich Cimini | ESPNNewYork.com

So much for Tim Tebow's powers of persuasion.

His former college teammate, Olympic speedster Jeff Demps, has decided to sign with the Patriots, as confirmed by Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com. It was first reported by Fox 13 in Tampa.

The Jets were "very interested" in Demps, his agent said Thursday. They saw Demps as the home-run hitter they lack on offense. GM Mike Tannenbaum picked Tebow's brain on Demps, with Tebow telling reporters that he planned to give Demps a call. They played together for two years at Florida, winning a national championship.

According to Reiss, the Patriots showed interest in Demps before the draft, which may have given them an edge. Bill Belichick loves those Gators. Demps ended up skipping the pre-draft process to concentrate on the Olympics.

Naturally, Demps is intriguing because of his world-class speed (he was a silver medalist on the 4x100 relay team), but we're not talking about another Emmitt Smith here. He would've been only a seventh-round pick, according to one AFC personnel executive. He's small (5-foot-8, 184 pounds), never carried the ball more than 100 times in a season and possesses only straight-line speed. No doubt, his Olympic link increased his profile.

But, of course, Belichick will be hailed as a genius for signing Demps. If the Jets had landed him, they would've been ripped for signing another gimmick player.

I'm thinking it has less to do about the player, and more about how the player is used. Article reads as Jets wanted him as a "Home Run hitter" type player, which he may never be, while NE wants to help their pretty horrid KR game.

Yeah, I would think that he should be able to consistently get us out beyond the 20 on kickoff returns, mostly just by taking advantage of the time it takes for coverage players to get downfield. That by itself would be a big upgrade over last season. If he can be a poor man's Darren Sproles for us, I will be thrilled, but also slightly surprised. Our history isn't very good when we go after guys that are overreliant on their speed, although most of those players have been WRs and CBs.
