Yeah, it was Chase Daniels and only a holding flag. When it's Sanchez back there he'll probably be his usual old 'deer in headlights' self when the pass rush gets there and it'll be a sack instead. Good points bringing up how Daniels was good enough to escape the sack which had absolutely NOTHING to do with Bushrod ending up on his back when Jones ran right through him. Would Brees, Brady, or Rodgers have empowered Bushrod with some magical strength that would have give him the ability to not end up on his back? They may have rolled out to the right quicker or stepped up, or got the pass quicker, but Bushrod would have still been laying on his back dragging Jones with him, it still would have been holding.
Bushrod ending up on his back clearly looked like he pulled Jones down because Daniels pocket presence is lacking (as most backup QBs will be) and it seemed that Jones was reaching for Daniels (since Daniels didnt move enough/early enough). Im trying to find video of the other hold since that one was much more pronounced on Daniels imo As the other Pats poster mentioned it showed that Jones strength is far more impressive than scouts expected, and as much as I hate to say it that is impressive and Jones could very well exceed expectations. Had he been on any other team outside of the AFC east I would certainly be routing for him
Luck had an incredible first game. Phins fans are now going mad they didnt suck harder last year apparently.
Was watching the replay of that game yesterday, didn't realize the Bills got Young. I always liked him, I think at this point he throws caution to the wind, forgets about trying to be a classic pocket passer and runs as much as he has to to get on the field and preserve his career. They have Brad Smith and David Clowney, too. A lot of speed if nothing else, I think Young might be starting by mid season, glad we play you in Week 1.
I hope Rex is taking note. No challenges on a play where there's a change of possession. Green Bay just got hit with a 15 yard penalty due to that. Since all turnovers are reviewed this year, no challenges are allowed. My question is what about a turnover on downs? Is that automatically reviewed?
It doesn't sound like it. I've only heard the rule change described as "turnovers" being automatically reviewed. I don't think they would include turnover on downs with that, seeing as those are never included in "turnovers" when you are talking about statistics, and because that would greatly add to the number of reviews needed during the course of a game.
I would agree, but the ref claimed you are not allowed to challenge "change of possession". Could be the ref just doesn't know the rules and said it wrong.
packers running the clock as much as they can and they're down 23 they just had it with 20 seconds left in the quarter after a penalty and the QB wandered back and forth, no snap.
Dominique Davis looked pretty good in the 4th quarter, but his receivers kept dropping balls. Another receiver failed to try to get out of bounds on a gain of like 4. Very dumb play. His mistake happened on 3rd and 10 with 15 seconds left. He scrambled and and went out of bounds. Since the ball was in the wrong hand, they didn't get a first down. He needed to switch hands and/or stick the ball out.
