I dont really think we need him. Would he return kicks over McKnight? He's just so little I can't see him being all that effective in the run besides many a couple gadget type plays.
Jake Steinberg @Steiny31 Scott Reynolds of http://PewterReport.com is reporting the Bus are currently working on a contract with Jeff Demps.
Like how little and ineffective Chris Johnson is? CJ2K is: 5'11" 191 lbs Demps is : 5'8" 181 lbs Note that this was his olympic weight for running track. When he was a gator he weighed 191, I'd say he could weigh 200+ and still be in top shape. Besides this guys is predicted to break CJ2K's 40 time. Why would we not want to get this guy and finally have a player that opposing defenses would have to game plan specifically for? Sight this beast!
I don't know how it works, but I believe we just straight up signed Hayden Smith, and he definitely didn't go through the draft or a supplemental draft.
While their measurements are similar, if you just watch how they run, then you'll see that Chris Johnson is much stronger, runs with more physicality, and has shown he can take the pounding that a featured RB must endure. I'm not sold on the fact that Demps can survive that type of beating in the NFL; however, he won't have to because he won't be utilized in that way. This is all moot anyway, as it appears he's signing with the Buccs.
No we drop Ganaway. If we were to get this guy he's not going to be used as a feature back, at least not while we have Greene and he's still producing. He will be like the other players that have flourished in the same role, Sproles, McCluster, Spiller, Bush. And all of them save McCluster have proven they can take the pounding of consecutive weeks of abuse. I dont like the idea of another project myself we already have a couple project players in the works. But as they say, "you can't teach speed" and this guy has lots of it. I think we could find a use for him. I mean if nothing else if we get him a Hill on the feild together, stretch the field and drop a bomb to one of them and beck up the opposing D, it'll all be worth it.
Is Demps really a project? Not like he's a converted baseball player or basketball player. He was a RB who chose to pursue running in the Olympics. He knows how to play the position and probably can play ST as well. I guess it doesn't matter as it appears he's gonna stay in Florida and play for Tampa.
Noooooooooooo. Clearly Bill told him to lie lol. Jake Steinberg @Steiny31 RT @ITG_Andrew: Ran into Jeff Demps at Gainesville Airport this morning. He was on his way to Boston, said it wasn't #NFL related
Kevin O'Donnell @ODonnellFox13 Breaking: Jeff Demps agent tells me 20 teams have called. Things have drastically changed over last 24 hours. Bucs are on Demp's shortlist. Jake Steinberg @Steiny31 RT @ODonnellFox13: Bob Hayes was considered the fastest player ever to put on an NFL uniform. Demps 100 meter time tops Hayes personal best.
Sounds like Demps' agent is trying to drive his price up. Kevin O'Donnell @ODonnellFox13 Breaking: Jeff Demps agent tells me 20 teams have called. Things have drastically changed over last 24 hours. Bucs are on Demp's shortlist.

If the Jets pick-up Demps and he makes the team the likely guy gone is McKnight. Demps would fill McKnight's role as the elusive change of pace back, Return man, and receiving back hopefully without the fumbles or mental mistakes. Powell would then be the third down back when Tebow's 3rd down package is not being used. But will Demps make the team? The idea that they are considering Demps said something about their lack of confidence in McKnight. I would bet against the Jets signing him. Tannenbaum usually does not overspend and this guy is regarded as a 7th round pick/UDFA which normally would require a small signing bonus to sign as a UDFA. If there are indeed 8 teams bidding I don't see the Jets paying much of a guaranteed signing bobus on a player who might not even make the team.
If I were Demps, I wouldn't even consider a team like the Jets, who will put multiple tight ends on the field and try to run it down the other team's throat. As others have mentioned, he'd really be best in an offense like New England's. Here's hoping that doesn't happen.
It would make sense if the Jets "wildcat" incorporates some of the option packages Tebow and Demps ran at UF.
you would go to a team that is running the ball more than less. plus you work with QB you are familiar with and you running the same style offense you ran in College . Seems like an easy choice and not alot of learning to do on the running end of it.
I thought Mark Sanchez was the QB running the offense.. seems even the fans are confused as to what the hell is going on in New Jersey
