He specifically didn't enter the draft...

He didn't do the combine, or pro day. His plan was to go to the olympics and see if he could make a career of track.

Him coming to the Jets is going to depend if he *wants* to play with Tebow again I think. I think the deal he gets (if he wants to get signed this season)will be close to the same anywhere.

How about a 3rd down back, and/or a slot receiver?

We had that last year in a guy called Shonn Greene who went over 1,000 yards in his 1st full year as a lead back....And hasn't caused a single problem since coming to the NFL unlike Mr. Benson.

With the exception of McKnight, all of our RBs (including Conner, albeit at FB) are the type who run with physicality. Benson would just add to that.

The point of "recruiting track stars" (i.e. bringing in Demps) is to add a different dimension - that being pure speed, a homerun threat - to the RB corps because it's something we lack right now.

We don't have a player on offense that scares any defensive coordinator, I say go for it.

My ignore list grows everyday and it makes me smile when I don't have to read comments that are worthy of whiny teenagers.

Ced Benson is Shonn Greene, except like 10 years older.

Demps played RB and KR in college, and did it pretty well. From 2008 to 2011, he averaged 7.8, 7.5, 6.0 and 5.8 yards per carry on close to 100 totes per season. That is better than Jamaal Charles, better than Jim Brown territory.

I'll give you 3 reasons. Harvin's an overrated migraine waiting to happen, they would play the same exact role (both too similar to Kerley), and the combination of a 53-man roster limit and the Jets' current holes mean that they shouldn't be adding two more WR's to the roster...

What the good Tanney adds, the good Tanny and take away from. Trade Kerley for Harvin, then sign Demps and figure out which other RB you would let go.

Then picture the lineup, Holmes, Hill, Harvin as WRs. Demps and Green your RBs. Sanchez in the shotgun. Demps and or Harvin could be moved back and forth between WR and RB, SCAT, what have you.

    >< A trade of Kerley for Harvin wouldn't even happen in fantasy. ^^^ Crazy talk.

EDIT: Although after thinking about it for a minute, the jets did get Tebow for a 4th rounder? Make some more majik happen!

If need be, they could bundle Kerley with a later round draft pick. Operative point is to nullify Vandy's objection about adding 2 WR's.

don't like the move. Greene hasn't shown that he's capable of going a whole season carrying the ball without getting injured. Powell & McKnight are too unproven for the Jets to expect them to produce.

RB situation right now = Guy who can't carry the ball all season as primary ball handler without getting injured + 2 unproven guys.

There's already questions all over this offense with: WR depth, TE depth, RT, LT coming off bad year, Starting RG really old ... this team is gambling all over the roster. Cut down on the projects already.

Benson would be a better fit with all the question marks talent-wise. Save the roster spot.

Also, if the team needs a big return ... throw Cro back there.

He did enter the draft, though. Otherwise, he'd have to do supplemental draft to enter the NFL. He was passed on by every team.

I'm aware of the whole situation with the Olympics. What I'm saying is why didn't one team take a flyer in the 7th round? Think like "He'll be done with the Olympics in August and then we'll go sign him."

Considering there's apparently this much interest now.

Obviously no team has his rights, I don't think that means the rookie wage scale doesn't apply. Why would it? As soon as someone signs them they should have to follow the scale.

I wasn't able to find a lot of information but I did see one place saying teams get a total of less than 80k to give out in bonus money to udfa's and I also found this:

Sounds like all UDFA's get the same contract except for the bonus money.

I could see the Jets cutting Ganaway and trying to slide him onto the practice squad since he was injured for a good part of camp and demps could help right away on special teams and jesuscat.
