I can hardly wait until one of the softest DB's in the league gets cracked once while trying to catch the ball. It will be the instant end of the Cromartie to WR experiment. BTW - I actually hope he plays WR, because the trade off on defense would be to the Pats advantage. Cromartie isn't exactly a football savant to begin with, so having to learn WR along with his defensive responsibilities can't be good to his overall play.
Cromaetie doesn't match up with anyone on the patriots and the route design they run so in that instant I'd rather him burn your corners on a go an open up the field
I really like having Cro get some WR training. He has so much talent but has no idea what the wide receiver is doing most of the time. Maybe he'll get it.
Cro said he's been asking for WR reps for years...He was asked what's different this year... His response? "We have a different offensive coordinator" flat out
As long as he is contributing more to Ws than Ls I don't care what side of the ball he plays on. But if this WR experiment affects his CB duties then I think they should end it asap.
I highly doubt he gets more than a few snaps at WR if any at all. Maybe a few deep pass plays all season if I had to guess. Don't want to risk tiring him out or him taking a hit and then having to go on defense.
Cro can most likely be everything that Plax was for us last year...which wasn't much but still gave Mark a big target in the end zone.
he should forget about receiver - those boys take a beating out there - and some of that points back to who is throwing the ball. sanchez/tebow aren't the most accurate duo. i would rather have a healthy and sometimes inconsistent cromartie out there on special teams and at corner, than at WR getting banged around. so what if its a play or 2 - jets luck thats the play he gets nailed on.
Yea but you can say that about anyone being out there for whatever play or 2. The fact is if you think something is going to help you win football games you do it.
Well that's fair enough. But if he gets hurt or something it's going to make them look all kinds of stupid and, knowing our luck, that's exactly what will happen.
If someone like Percy Harvin got injured during kickoff would they feel stupid? Not if where you are using someone else is somewhere he is very effective. I hope Cromartie doesn't get hurt but I think he is more likely getting hurt playing corner or ST than he is running deep routes every once in a while.
However it turns out this should be a very entertaining offense to watch this year between Tebow, Sanchez playing for his job, Hill looking to prove himself, Cro at WR, new OC... could be a disaster or a stroke of genius but either way I'm excited to see it all play out.
