Totally different situation. Denver tried to trade Orton before the season, the deal fell through and they were stuck with him. Fox decided that Orton gave them the best chance to win, then he sucked like he had before. Only similarity here is that Tebow is on the team.
It's all gonna come down to results. If the Jets open up 0-4 or 1-5 & Sanchez isn't getting it done then Tebow deserves a shot. Think what Rex means to say is that the qb position is something Mark needs to lose because he's the preferred choice right now. No matter what happens in preseason, Sanchez is the starter for the first few weeks of the season.
"sounds like" exactly But we don't know. Don't worry, I'm not trying to minimize your hero here. I think the Jets plan on using him a bunch. What I'm wondering is whether they have Tebow plans that aren't exactly the "wild cat". I think maybe they're trying to get everyone to focus on ABC when they're going to unleash XYZ.
Exactly, it's Marks job to lose. I'm sure Rex's plan is to have Mark be the #1 QB for years to come, but plans don't always come to fruition. My guess is that if Mark replicates his production from last year, he won't last long now that there is a legitmate #2 sitting behind him this year. It all depends on Mark, really.
Yea, I'm getting the same impression. I expecting (maybe wishful thinking) that the "wildcat" will be more of a spread option style offense then a traditional wildcat. (meaning that there's a section of the play book for it, with passes, offensive counters[checks at the line], and power running) As opposed to being the backpage of the play book, with 1 formation and 3 plays out of it.
I'm not being defensive, I think I know why you took exception with my post and I addressed it. Of course it's nothing more than a "conspiracy theory" at this point, if that's what you want to call it. It just seems really odd to me the way the Jets keep talking about the wildcat and how teams are going to have to spend time practicing it and all that. What purpose does it serve to keep bringing it up? Seems a little fishy to me, that's all. Why be so secretive about the wildcat? There's plenty of film on it.
You're addressing your own fantasies. I took exception to your post for the same reason I take exception to a lot of pro-Tebow posts. Because they go beyond the evidence. But like I said in my edited post, we'll see.
I'm obviously not basing my "conspiracy theory" on any facts and wouldn't argue that I was. It's something I've dreamed up.
New York Jets @nyjets #JH Sanchez with 25-yard completion to WR Jordan White who gets the catch over Revis. New York Jets @nyjets #JH McElroy's short pass intended for WR Jordan White intercepted by CB Isaiah Trufant. Play appeared to be a miscommunication Brian Costello @BrianCoz Trainers working on Stephen Hill's right hand/wrist #nyj
Brian Costello @BrianCoz Looks like it's Hill's finger. Doesn't look serious. He's going back in #nyj
Jenny Vrentas @JennyVrentas Sanchez 5-for-6 in 7on7 drill, with 3 TDs. Hill came back in to drill, btw. #nyj Pennington must have inspired him
The offense has really lit a fire this week after that performance in the first preseason game. Although that could have been simply that the offense was "vanilla" to a horrible extent. It is looking good for the season!
I hear ya there, but if the offense can push well against this defense, when they actually run the real offense during the season, I think we are gonna be seriously surprised by the points Mark puts on the board.
I agree, as long as that line blocks the O can be good...gonna be a huge test Saturday, pre-season or not
