As per ROTOWORLD ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that Plaxico Burress is on his way to New England to work out for the Patriots. The Patriots already have a logjam at wide receiver, so this could simply be due diligence. If Burress latches on, both Deion Branch and Donte' Stallworth could be out. The three would likely be competing for one roster spot. Even if he sticks, the 35-year-old Burress wouldn't see more than a handful of snaps each game.

I hate Burress, but not gunna lie, the Jets were the #1 redzone team last year and he had a lot to do with it. If he took a smaller role in New England it will work out.

You can hope Jerry Jones steps in and wants him. Holmes, Hill, Kerley. Then Turner/Schill for the 4th spot if we don't send Keller out there.
I feel for the Jets wide receiver situation.. Kind of reminds me of 2006 on the Pats, when Rache Caldwell was our #1 ha, it was a rough year. Stephen Hill is probably not going to blow anyones mind in his rookie season coming from a run oriented offense, but he could develop into a solid starter 2-3 years from now

Yeah, but that lack of a top WR cost the Pats in the AFC Champ game when Reche came up very small in the 4th quarter. Holmes will never the be the great weapon he can be until the Jets get someone on the other side that scares teams (Like when BE was there). Hill may be the eventual answer, but young WRs coming from a running system tend to need some time. I doubt the pats will sign Burress, but wouldn't be surprised to see Branch and or Stallworth gone. The list right now is Lloyd, Welker, Gaffney, Edelman, with hernandez taking some snaps in the slot. They really like Britt Davis who is tall in the red zone. That's the guy who would probably lose out if the Pats signed Plax. Not really a fan of his, but he may be a good fit. He likes to take alot of plays off and would probably only be in on 3rd down and red zone...

They probably like the fact that Plax is a big target and can bring some physical play to the passing game. I think they are trying to beef up the muscle in their passing game to make up for the complete lack of muscle in their running game.
If Plax wasnt a cancer in our locker room im sure he wouldve been back. If we had made the playoffs then Plax prolly is back. He still can deliver real good in the redzone.

I'm not sure why you say we have a complete lack of muscle in our running game. Ridley is a physical RB, rookie Brandon Boldon looks like another one, we have a good blocking TE, fullback looks to be a position that actually gets used this year, and in the past our OL has always been strong. I feel like our power running game has always been better than people assume in the past few years, we just haven't had a running game that consistently produces yardage. If our running game takes a step back this season, it will be because of the changes at OL more than anything else. As far as Burress goes, I really hope we are just doing due diligence. I don't think he brings anything to the table that we don't already have in a younger, better player like Gronkowski, Lloyd, etc. The only times that I felt like our receiving corps suffered from a lack of physicality last year was against the Steelers, when they were constantly getting to Welker at the line and Brady couldn't find anyone else to throw to, and against the Ravens when Gronkowski was injured. Swapping Lloyd for Branch, and having a deeper roster at WR and TE, will solve those issues without any need for a guy like Plax.
