Ok, then why are you here debating me about Tebow, then? You aren't here trying to put down McElroy. You are here dissing Tebow because he is a threat to Sanchez and the WHOLE WORLD is talking about it. That = QB controversy. Just wait, brother... just wait a few weeks and you will see how bad it's going to get. You haven't seen anything yet. It's going to get ugly and that's not what I hope for the Jets. It's just the reality. Keep thinking there is no controversy.
Uhh what evidence is there that there is a controversy? If Tebow was legitimately a threat and there is a competition the Jets would spend their time teaching him the offense as a QB, not ST as a PP, not WC as a QB. There is absolutely no controversy except from Tebow fans who think he is someone competing for the starting job. The job is Sanchez's to lose, not Tebow's to win, hence not a competition.
Yes and no. The Jets ARE spending a lot of time teaching Tebow the offense as a QB, hence, the number of 2nd team snaps that he is getting. On top of that, he's working with ST as well. That said, I agree with you that the job isn't Tebow's to win, only Sanchez's to lose, as it is in most NFL camps.
Bahaha! People, like Backup QB, who claim that there's a competition, a controversy, and that "Tebow is a threat to Sanchez" remind me of Waco, Texas.
I did not claim there is a competition. I said there is controversy. Why is this so hard to understand? It's not even a pro-Tebow comment. I'm stating the obvious. Here is the definition for you... con·tro·ver·sy [kon-truh-vur-see; Brit. also kuhn-trov-er-see] Show IPA noun, plural con·tro·ver·sies. 1. a prolonged public dispute, debate, or contention; disputation concerning a matter of opinion. 2. contention, strife, or argument.
You are confusing yourself. See post above with the definition of controversy. Whether he is a threat or if there is a competition does not change the fact that there is a QB controversy going on and it is going to last until/unless Tebow stinks it up, or Sanchez has a great season. At no point did I say he is competing for the starting job, though privately, I do believe it somewhat; albeit not for the beginning of the season. Sanchez will start in Week 1 without question unless he is injured.
Controversy implies competition. If there is no competition, there is no controversy. Controversy would be saying the job is up for grabs, hence a competition. Controversy would be players picking QB's, which they did not do because there is no competition. There is no controversy because there is no competition. What you are saying is if the starting QB plays terrible the backup is going to see time. That isn't a controversy. Controversy only occurs when there is an open competition unless you think Player A is a starter and if he does terrible Player B the backup and is going start instead is a controversy. That means there is a QB controversy going on in 25 out of the 32 teams probably. There is also controversy at most positions on the team right now because if Moore sucks in comes Vlad. RG controversy! If Slauson sucks, in comes Vlad again, LG controversy! If Landry does poorly, Eric Smith starts, S controversy! If Cromarties does bad, Wilson might take over. CB controversy! All the backups are obviously competing to become a starter, doesn't make it a controversy.
And where is this prolonged debate except coming from Tebow fans? Even ESPN who is begging for Sanchez to stink has said there is no compeition or controversy, Sanchez is the starter. 4-5 different people have said this is in the last week. If there is competition, there is no public debate about it, and therefore no controversy. There is no public debate except for Tebow fans. If ESPN is saying Sanchez is clearly the starter, (ESPN out of all people who want something to go wrong with the Jets) there is no public dispute and it hasn't been prolonged except by Tebow fans on here. You saying there is a QB controversy is equivalent to me saying there is a controversy for best team in the AFC East. Jets, Bills, and Dolphins may believe they can win the AFC east like you yourself can believe Tebow will start. But is that really a controversy or fans being hopeful and trying to turn it into a debate that isn't there?
I agree with Backup on this.... There is a huge difference between a competition and a controversy. It's a controversy because people are debating and talking about it. And it's not just "tebow fans"... Hell, even one of the biggest haters Stephen A thinks "the fix is in". I'm not agreeing with him and I think the job is Marks without question. But the fact that there's even a debate means there's a controversy..... Made up or not. Denial ain't just a river in Egypt.
Tebow brings allot to the Jets and could be a great weapon for the them. However, the downside is illustrated by this thread.
Ignore all of these guys that think college football is anything close to the NFL (Most Gator Fans) and lets hope Tebow does well. If both Sanchez and Tebow do well this season the Jets will be successful and make a run at the big dance. Us Jets fans resent the Tebow fans because they can care less how the team does and are just rooting for Tebow. I hope Tebow does well but I also hope the idiot Tebow fans go away.
Wut? Even faced with the official definition of "controversy" you ignore it and make up your own definition? You are very stubborn, Sir. There is no implication of competition in the meaning of controversy. How you cannot understand this is beyond me.
You're kidding me, right? EDIT: 1) You are not a Tebow fan. 2) You have been engaged in a prolonged public debate of Tebow vs. Sanchez for quite some time now. 3) This debate is happening all over the world every day. 4) Tebow fans canot debate themselves on the same position. That makes no sense. It cannot be coming from just Tebow fans.
I sincerely hope displacedfan is just "mad brah" and doesn't really believe what he is writing. I mean really... it's gotten to the point that simple definitions of words are being debated. I've never heard in my life the viewpoint that any controversy is based upon a competition of some sort. And like I said, Sanchez is the starter in Week 1. There is no competition for the job as far as I can tell (to start the season). If Sanchez struggles in the first few games, and Tebow thrives we may see a competition, but the same is to be said for many QB situations around the league.
Another definition for you... con·tro·ver·sy (kntr-vûrs) n. pl. con·tro·ver·sies 1. A dispute, especially a public one, between sides holding opposing views. See Synonyms at argument. 2. The act or practice of engaging in such disputes: writers skilled at controversy.
I think it's all semantics over "controversy." Tebow's detractors (or Sanchez supporters) want to dismiss it away, and say no controversy. And there's truth to that -- Sanchez is the entrenched starter. There is not a competition. But the broader "controversy" is over why Tebow was brought in, and the feeling that he is waiting in the wings. This is what Boomer Esiason was referring to when he said he would cut Tebow, what the President was referring to when he said he wouldn't have brought Tebow in. It's the "controversy" over Tebow's role, and whether Sanchez should have been subjected to that in only his 4th year, etc.
Speaking of definitions, you are the very definition of a troll. You come here as a Tebow fan, not a Jets fan, to stir the pot with your "QB controversy" semantics, then turn around and admit that there is no QB competition, which would be the basis for a "QB controversy". Please go away. It is clowns like you that make Tebowmania the circus that it is.
If you honestly think that Rex Ryan cares what you think backup qb. You clearly have mental issues. It's people like you and ESPN the network that is creating controversy that isn't even there. They don't care what you think.
