haven't you guys ever heard of a PROJECT PICK? this guy is RAW and has ALL-PRO POTENTIAL. nah i'm jk.
How dare you post anything optimistic or positive about the Jets. Turn in your whiney spoiled child membership card immediately.
He was a project pick. He didn't win the starting job. Does that mean he didn't improve? Do we know if he's a viable backup this year? Have you seen him play in camp? Seems like Jets fans have been dying to label this kid a bust since he was drafted.
Yea he should be at the point where he can be a good backup. The problem is he is a guard not a RT. Slauson and Moore won't be replaced unless Vlad really starts blowing people away but I don't see that happening. Im hoping this year he will atleast be able to be a good backup and next year if Moore is gone (I think this is his last year on contract) then Vlad can move in to starting RG. As for what to do with Hunter I have no clue. He can't play any worse than he did last year so there is that. Hopefully Howard can outplay him or we work something else out. Maybe the new man blocking scheme will help Hunter. Cant hurt really. He did take some penalties and seemed confused at times.
Not counting out Vlad but should we really have searched for our savior as an offensive linemen whether pass blocker or road grader from UMass? I see school like Nebraska Wisconson for running athletic linemen and players from Sec Acc PAC for passing
If he's improved to where he's a legit nfl backup that's a big step. Him not being a tackle is disappointing to me. A lot of people projected him as a guard all along though. If he eventually replaces moore i'd say he was a successful project pick.
Most fans are ready to label every draft pick that is not an first year All-pro a bust. Our fan base is fucking insane at times. Wait till thier calling for Hills head in week 3.
While I personally expect Hunter to start and be sufficient. You clearly dont understand what happens in preseason. With teams having a chance to play young/udfa players it gives them an opportunity to get younger/cheaper. So teams who may have drafted a tackle either this year or in previous years can test them, and then cut/trade the older/more expensive to save $$$. Im not expecting any probowl tackles to hit the open market, but to pretend that serviceable guys dont get cut is laughable. For instance Bryant McKinnie is a guy who can be a FA soon and thats before the preseason even started. Its the nfl, shit always happens
He is projected to be a backup this year. And next year is the final year of his rookie contract. Having a second rounder never being a starter entering the final year of his rook contract is unquestionably bust territory. Especially since if he actually does start well for a year, then we have to pay him legit $$$ being hes an UFA.
Shwaaaat? Completely rebuild with 2 pro bowlers on the line? Ducasse isn't a bust after just 2 years, one of which had no training camp? He's made progress. He gets at least one more season before getting the "bust" title. Where's the source link for this?? Ducasse could still emerge, I'd rather see him at RT than Hunter. Slauson is going to be beasting this year.
Source link for what ? It was my opinion lol And we need 2 new guards and a right tackle. Obviously were not replacing Mangold/Dbrick but id consider that a heavy rebuild. Ducasse is done playing tackle. Hes going to enter the final deal of his rookie contract (not this year but next) as a 2nd round pick who only started 1 game since hes just gonna be a backup this year
Very happy to see Slauson once again starting on the line & get annoyed when posters put him down. Of course he's not Mangold good but he's a solid player and makes so little money (and was a late draft pick). Rosters need these kind of players to compete for division titles and championships. Hopefully, the Jets get similar levels of productions from the late picks last draft. The Revis/Mangold/etc level players are elite talents but they also cost elite $$. To round out your roster, you need players that can produce without consuming too much cap. Hopefully, Slauson is gonna take some snaps @ Center so the Jets aren't totally screwed up like last season if Mangold gets injured. Mangold down is pretty much season over for the Jets.
Of course, BRICK looked just as bad as Hunter did and allowed as a many sacks! The Dolphins ate his lucnch in the last game last year. Perhaps the entire OL was out of synch. yet all are only concerned with hunter. I am concerned for both OTs and we have little depth there presently. If Brick gets hurt we are in a bad spot.
Excellent news & thank you for taking the time out to give your observations from training camp. If your analysis is correct then the Jets are prepared next season if Moore retires or if old age just catches. They'd have 4 productive players on next season's OL and none of them close to retirement.
He should learn from Brandon Moore as much as possible if he ever wants to start for the Jets. RG could be his potential spot. Just keep getting better
people already are agreed 100% at the very least the continuity will improve the play from last season.i also think alot of power formations will assist hunter and make this an above average line
