It seems like your personal dislike for Obama is affecting your opinion on this matter.

The Jets are saying that Tebow is being brought in to help in goal line situations and to run wildcat. First point the wildcat is played out and defenses have figured it out. Number two the Jets were number 1 in redzone efficiency last season with Sanchez as the QB.

You are right though Tebow is the backup but if things get rocky you'll see how quickly the Tebow fans will be begging for Tebow to start. You don't think Sanchez may feel slightly annoyed if he is on a drive and he feels like he's in rhythm only to get yanked in favor of running wildcat.

    Tebow is no average backup.

I have no personal dislike for Obama. I voted for him. He just turned out to be an awful president and he failed to live up to his campaign rhetoric. Doesn't deserve to have his contract renewed.

If you think the wildcat is played out, thats fine - but Obama wasn't saying the wildcat was played out. Obama was stupidly assuming that there is a QB controversy when there isn't a QB controversy - in that sense the President was totally wrong yet again. BTW if the wildcat is played out then explain why Tebow took the broncos into the playoffs running the wildcat.

If Sanchez is annoyed, that's his problem. His job is to play QB for the NYJ to move the chains and score TDs. If he does his job well GREAT !!!! If Tebow is inserted to run some Wildcat and Sanchez has a hissy fit then that's his problem. If Sanchez cannot handle having a backup QB who isn't a broken down 40 yr old Brunnell then that's his problem too.

Goal line is not the same as red zone. Why do so many act like theyre one in the same?

Tebow is 7 for 7 in scoring a td when trying to score a td from 3 yards and in, in the NFL. That's a very valuable commodity to have.

The very thing people on this site complain about with the media, you are doing the same thing. Spin, plain and simple.

What other "backup" qbs are being slotted to take reps from the starter during the season? I'm personally hoping for the best in this situation but Im not nieve to think that this doesn't have potential to be problematic. In other words Tebow is here to push Sanchez and it's up to Sanchez of he wants to keep his job.

Denvers defense helped in a lot of those. they won their fair share of games inspite of Tebow. I will give him credit that he did play his part.

Sanchez had 6 rushing td's last year though. Plus it's the job of the rbs in those situations to punch the ball in the endzone.

    Cromartie reacting:

"He shouldn't be [worried]," cornerback Antonio Cromartie said. "We don't have a two-quarterback system. We have a one quarterback system, and that's with Mark."

We all know this? Really? Tebow wasn't brought here to run the wildcat and other positions on offense and special teams?

We all know Tebow wasn't brought here to scare Mark straight, as he doesn't really pose a challenge to him. We've had a clear plan with Mark the entire time. Tebow was brought here because he's a great all around player and will make contributions to the team in others ways besides starting QB. We missed role players like that last year with Brad Smith leaving.

Plenty of players run wildcat / option offense on other teams. Were you annoyed when Brad Smith took reps away from Sanchez? Sanchez will keep his job because he's a lot better than Tebow. It's that simple. Tebow wasn't brought here to be a starter, although we know he's had the experience and even a playoff win, so if Mark gets hurt, we'll still have a chance. If that happened last year, we'd have been majorly boned with Brunell.

Guys, please stop with the political arguments. I wasn't attacking Obama's politics, I was disagreeing with his uninformed opinion on the Jets football team. Let's try to stick with football.

Do you think the front office or Rex would actually admit to bringing in Tebow to light a fire under Mark? Of course they'll give politically correct statements. So while they'll use Tebow in certain schemes etc Mark will be the starter. But god forbid if the Jets are struggling mid season if you don't think that there is a possibility that Mark could lose his job regardless if Sanchez himself is playing well or not.

Brad Smith was not the backup Mark Brunell and Clemons were the 2nd and 3rd qbs. There are no other starting qbs that have to deal with what Mark is dealing with here. Last year Kyle Orton was better than Tebow but the fans were calling for Tebow.

The Jets brought in Tebow for in the event the Jets struggle they can justify benching Mark for Tebow since like you said he has the experience. If they were confident in Mark then McElroy would have been our number 2 right now.

That's why I've said in other threads that if this situation doesn't push Sanchez to play with a chip on his shoulder then he deserves to lose his job.

IMO Sanchez has to play REALLY bad in order to lose his spot, and I just don't see that happening. Sanchez is having one of the best camps he's had. Tebow was a Sparano wet dream. That's why we got him.

It doesn't matter if Brad Smith was the backup QB, he took reps from Sanchez. That was my point. The real reason is in case Mark goes down with injury. Tebow >> Brunell/Stanton as a backup and brings much more to offense. Sanchez is better than Orton btw. Tebow wasn't brought in to compete. Remember what happened to the Colts last year with no Peyton and no serviceable backup? They went from 10-6 to 2-14. Tebow was a smart acquisition for a 4th round pick. They wouldn't have extended Sanchez's contract so he's bound to us for at least 2 more years, then bring in a guy to take his spot who's not as good a player. It makes no sense.

Sanchez doesn't really need to play bad to get benched. If the team sucks by mid season but Sanchez is putting up career numbers he'll be benched anyway. Simply because the media will create a shitstorm about "why isn't Tebow starting when Sanchez isn't getting the job done".

Tebow will see more reps this season than Brad did in his entire jets career.

This thread needs to be closed since this topic is starting to be less about the Jets and more about politics. And it's getting ugly.

And deservedly so. Tebow is a much better football player than Brad Smith is.

Obama can't even throw a baseball sixty feet, and where supposed to trust his sports acumen. He should worry more about doing his own job better; and less about who is playing quarterback for the Jets.
