The only thing worse than the lack of respect the Jets get from everyone is everyone crabbing about the lack of respect the Jets get from everyone

4-12 will do it, don't doubt it. Maybe even 6-10 or 7-9, it depends upon how poorly the team plays. I'm NOT saying that's likely, but nobody foresaw the total collapse of the Colts and the firing of their entire CS and FO last season, either. People thought that without Peyton they'd just miss the playoffs ... they did and then some.

ummmm...everybody w/a clue knows it was a joke. Planet Cro is always joking and saying crazy stuff. the media take it out of context and pretend its a serious statement, but nobody takes much of what Cro says too seriously.

As for respect - i hope we are totally disrespected all pre-season. GREAT!!! Love it !!! See you on week 1 !

I don't think Rex should or will get fired this season, but the NFL is a very reactionary league these days. Rex deserves a lot of credit for turning the Jets into an instant contender his first year, but ultimately people expect a team to improve under the influence of a good coach. This is especially true when you have a young, developing, quarterback. During Rex's three years so far, it appears that the Jets have progressively gotten worse. There has been a decent amount of turnover on the roster, so if the Jets have a good season this year people will just chalk last year's struggles up to growing pains. However, if they do worse than their 8-8 record, it will represent a trend that is very hard to ignore.

A lot of people saw it I thought? Peyton Manning was the team, everyone knew that.

Rex isn't on the hot seat and a 4-12 season shouldn't do it because that will most likely mean vicious rash of injuries

Kind of shocking, but +1, I agree completely.

    #1, Cromartie wasn't joking.
#2, if you think that you can just study a playbook and run some routes in a few practices and all of a sudden transition to being an NFL receiver, then you are clueless about the position.

Usually find myself in agreement with you, but not this time. Cro wasn't joking. See for yourself:

fair enough. but u have to realize that cro is on his own planet. its not like the team is sitting there worrying about whatever cro says. cro says all sorts of stuff, and this is just Cro.

I understand that Cro was just being Cro. Thing is though, that really doesn't matter. I mean, we all know guys who are pricks. Does that mean he can say "dude, your wife is fat", and not cause a problem ? He's a grown man and needs to get his mouth under control, much like Santonio.

They don't have time to worry about what Cro says, they're too busy worrying about what Holmes is gonna say next.... j/k.... I think.

Nobody thought the Colts would be as bad as they were, and few, if any, realized quite how rotten their core was. A losing season is one thing, the worse team in the league? Nobody saw that one coming, least of all owner Robert Irsay.

Interesting. I always assumed they were going to be a bottom 5 team once Peyton didn't play. I didn't really read any predictions. I guess I got lucky on thy guess, one of the few I can hang my hat on:)

If a fight does break out in Jets camp it will be spun to Rex not having control. It's the way it is.
People spin things all the time to fit their "narrative", it's the way it is. You think ESPN gets more viewers or readers by analyzing Revis' contract and saying its dumb to hold out now or by saying revis didn't say he wasn't holding out. Does it get more viewers by saying make or break year for Rex, or relatively safe year for Rex. It's easy to see there's a double standard but its there for more most sports teams. Rarely are teams judged analytically but with more and more bloggers there are more and more better stories.

As the pp just said, I did think that the Colts success was based on Peyton and that they would have a hard time winning a game without him.

Unlike the Pats, the Colts put all their money into 4 or 5 players. No depth anywhere. Plus, from everything I read, Peyton took ALL the reps every week in practice. They made absolutley no effort to develop a backup QB.

Cro is always saying crazy stuff. Not the brightest guy. everybody of course knows this including the media who deliberately try to get him to talk so that they have something to write about. nobody on the Team cares, b/c the players and coaches know exactly what the deal is w/planet cro. And if some WR was upset about it - GOOD!!!! Go out and kick Cro's ass all day in practice and catch pass after pass on him. Put up or shut up.
Its not rocket science kids, put on your big boy pants and do your job and don't sit around worrying about cro hurting some wr's feelings.

Progressively gotten worse? Sanchez rookie year - 11-8. 2nd year - 13-6, 3rd year 8-8. We're 32-22 under Rex, which is one of the best winning %s we've had in a 3 year period. Parcel's era was similar but only had 1 playoff win. We have 4 in 3 years. One mediocre year doesn't show downward progression. We are winning at least 11 games this year. The great patriots collapse is coming.

Lol progressively getting worse is a joke. Our best year as a team was by far our second year. Last year was a step back but we underachieved. Now people expect that to be the norm so its up to the Jets to prove themselves again.
