On the Mike and Mike show this morning they had on Golic & Colin Cowherd. I have been calling Sportscenter; Jetscenter (they should have been on Hardknocks, ESPN is almost doing that regardless) for a while and I quote Cowherd: "I know we're ESPN & all but I can't believe how much this network is shoving the Jets with Sanchez & Tebow down everybody's throats. That team isn't even that good! I don't even think they're the 2nd best team in that division. I've got the Bills finishing 2nd in the AFC East."
Well, ESPN sent a crew to Cortland to capture training camp. What did they expect? Fact is, there's not a lot of other exciting camp news, other than Denver and Manning. Jason Taylor said he thinks the Tebow thing will work well this season. Rob Dibble said on his radio show last night, he think the Jets may surprise the AFCE this season. I guess the wait and see rule applies.
Ok, maybe stirring a bit, caught me! Truth be told I think Cowchip is an idiot so I need to come clean on that. This is Jets news though, I also posted the video of Tebow running goal line.
Personally I think that Mike & Mike give the worst opinion based news on ESPN. They usually base what they say on personal feelings and a vauge interpretation, not facts. As for Cowerd, he's just like Skip, he'll just say something he doesn't even believe in just to be different and try to boost ratings.
Also - I will admit, I think the Tebow thing is good for the Jets. He forces people around him to suck it up and act like positive men. After last seasons melt down, the Jets needed a soul in the locker room. He is likeable and a good team mate. If he ends up playing it will because Sanchez sucked and at that point, who gives a shit if Sanchez felt threatened by his presence. Sanchez needed to see a real leader and I think it will help him. Or not.
I'll probably B.I.H. for agreeing with a Bills fan...but couldn't agree more! After assessing the entire Tebow thing I have to HOPE that his presence motivates Sanchez. Sanchez IS the better QB...maybe not the better player, overall. But, definitely the better QB. Sanchez needs to grow some stones and take control. As far as a positive influence in the locker room...that will remain to be seen.
ESPN is an entertainment business... straight up analysis is boring... they know how to make money... its not by being intelligent or accurate, its by beating the drum of controversial issues. Their sister network is ABC (Limbaugh, etc)... they know what they're doing.
Well, the Sox station up here is 96.7 the wave. And when the Sox aren't on they have Rush, Beck, Hannity... all the conservatives on, and the news breaks are always provided by Fox. Maybe they're independent.
