Cromartie says a joke to the cameras and all of a sudden the locker room is in danger, but Patriots have a brawl at camp and thats just guys "getting antsy"...these media haters are hilarious.
I don't think either one is a big deal, I actually love the response of Schilens. Do I think this will fracture the LR? No, it's not a big deal at all. It's like a verbal version of what happened at pats camp. Guys are around each other every moment, it's hot, they are working hard and tempers will flare. What makes it a big deal for us was all the nonsense last year. If that didn't happen this wouldn't be a story at all but everything this team does is big news and the only way to silence any of it is to win.
Patriots played SB last year, we collapsed the 3 last games. Cromarties comment was not a joke, it was stupid.
He's still right. If that happened with the Jets the media would be all over it about Rex losing the room already and whatnot. On the flip side if a non-WR for the Pats said he'd be the 2nd best WR on the team there would be nothing made of it at all. It's absolutely a double standard.
I am surprised by all the posts feeling sorry for how the media is treating Jets. Patriots have been well managed for over a decade and earned the benefit of the doubt when it come to pre-season extraordinaries. It is natural given our history that the Jets camp is under more scrutiny. I do not believe anybody hates the Jets per se. How much love and respect do you think the raiders or chargers fans feel they are getting pre season?
Brawls during practices at training camps are commonplace. Big dudes are smacking one another around and talking trash, and it's hot and they're getting tired, and then bam! two guys start, and maybe more join in. It flares up, it's broken up, and the participants likely get extra laps or fined or something, and it's over. I suspect that some coaches may tacitly approve of it, although I believe that the NFL pretty strongly discourages it. Cromartie's comment was essentially a public dissing of the Jets' WRs. That's a whole different thing than a couple of guys throwing a few punches out on the field. Maybe it was meant as a really stupid asshat joke, but he shouldn't have said it at all. Cromartie -- and all the Jets -- should take the old time saying, "if you don't have anything nice to say about someone, don't say anything at all" to heart.
I don't think it was a "public dissing" of the WRs, it's a cocky athlete thinking he is better than he is and w/o no proven WRs on the roster besides Holmes he thinks he'd be the 2nd best WR. I liked Schilens' response, now let's see the WRs respond on the field.
The Jets had a couple of guys swinging at each other this week also. I forget who it was, one on O one on D. No big deal. Cro had ought to concentrate on being the 2nd best DB on the field, or he may get passed there as well. The Jets PR department really sucks, from Tanny to Rex, Cro, Revis they all need to shut up and get ready for the season...which starts in a month. Why they feel the need to answer every stupid question asked of them is beyond me.
I swear half the people on this board need a full time shrink. If it isn't what bloggers like Cimini says it's what is or isn't written about in Boston that has people up in arms. Worry about the games and the final scores, that is the only thing that matters.
Jake Steinberg @Steiny31 Damon Harrison and Austin Howard got into a fight. That's a 6'3, 350lbs dude going up against a 6'7, 333lbs dude. #nyj
this whole thing got way out of proportion- from cros perspective, i love his confidence in his own athletic ability. not sure its a slight. but if it is, probably just a joking jab at the guys he competes against (the 2nd wr) every single day. competitive nature.... this whole thing is . obviously cimini takes it and runs with it as the beginning of the end.
Well given the circus that is the Jets camp and that Sportscenter ought to be renamed "Jetscenter" what do you expect? Plus Cro is an idiot, why alienate your team? Add to that Holmes saying the other day that he was the "scapegoat" last year and you get negative press. Clearly the bad feelings are not entirely gone. Just dormant in July when usually all the teams have harmony and hope. If the Jets start off with a couple of losses, and I will not blow the Bills horn as loudly as some, given that a team that looks good on paper needs to actually make it happen, I think we can agree that the Bills game is not a sure thing and neither, of course is the Steelers game. What happens if there is an 0-2 start for the Jets? TEBOW, TEBOW, then the real fun will start...
What year is it now? And yeah it's absolutely a double standard. That Pats can do no wrong in the eyes of the media, but they'll go through a 10 minute interview just to pick out the one line that Rex said and blow it out of proportion. Journalism in sports is the worst its ever been. I wish they actually talked about football instead of gossip and drama. As if the Jets REALLY care what Cro said to the media. Rex will handle it. He's not going to make that mistake again this year.
I'm not a troll at all. My question was a logical one that I felt answered the OP. Instead of reporting me you could make an argument against my point if you wanted a good discussion. A new year doesn't mean the problems disappeared and it certainly doesn't come with an expectation of the media/other fans to pretend that the Jets' locker room problems didn't happen. The idea that the media isn't allowed to use recent history to put current happenings in context is absurd. I'm sure plenty of you guys view my team, accurately, as a joke. Is that based on this year only or are you using recent history?
I also love how everyone keeps saying Santonio quit on the team last year....Santonio didnt quit, Schotty fucking benched him!
