I came up with the same players you did—no one. There are question marks at virtually every position. Starting with quarterback, Mark Sanchez can be good or maddeningly bad. Tim Tebow could eventually steal snaps and/or starts if Sanchez struggles, and while Tebow "just wins," the performance is downright ugly. Moving on to running back, which should be a staple of the offense under Tony Sparano. But who here can take over a game? Not Shonn Greene. Joe McKnight has some shake to his game, but he's not feature-back quality. At wide receiver, Santonio Holmes is good, when not running his mouth, but he'll see double coverage unless Stephen Hill, Chaz Schilens or Dustin Keller improve very soon. The offensive line is good in spots, like left tackle and center, but the other three starting spots are a rotating door of average talent. Bottom line: The Jets offense won't scare anyone in 2012, except maybe Jets fans.
At this point and time im going to have a agree with the 30th ranking. The glaring need for a RT. 1 proven WR in the group SH. 1 proven RB in the group SG. A QB coming off a terrible year MS.

We went to 2 straight AFCC games which very few have done in the last 10-15 years and last year we went 8-8 stop acting like it was 3-13! What about Oak,SD,Den,Buf,Mia,Jax,SF,Sea,Wsh,Phi, or Min??? You think they have a WR better then us??? And just because our rookie RBs havent proven themselves yet doesnt mean they wont! Just offhand I'd say the Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Bucs, Miami Dolphins and St Louis Rams are definitely worse than the Jets offense until proven otherwise. I don't dispute that the Jet's O is bottom third of the NFL though. That's a reasonable assessment.
The point was that we know we can do it, and just because we had 1 down year doesnt mean we will again. We didnt suck last year because of our talent

We are going to be on the headlines and in the media spot light all the time. Our owner loves it, our head coach loves it, and most of the players love it. Get used to it.

30th is not out of the realm of possibility, but I feel we should be closer to 20th. The Jets were 25th in yards per game in 2011 despite having the most total drives (thanks to a combination of things like excellent defense, and too many turnovers which end up in quick scores and the offense getting the ball right back) You can't rationalize this by talking about positional needs, though. No team in the NFL is without holes. Despite the continuous harping on our RT situation, the Jets allowed a lower sack rate than teams that significantly out-threw us like Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Carolina. Football Outsiders' play-by-play metrics rate the Jets offensive line as 7th best in run blocking, 17th best in pass protection. Good enough to succeed, I expect it to be better. Sacks are just as much a product of poor pocket presence (or poor play design not getting anyone open) as poor blocking. GMCJETS: How many teams have more than one proven running back? I know we rely on running more, but the Patriots and Packers sure don't. Holmes, Hill, Kerley, Schilens, Keller, Cumberland, McKnight, plus Tebow scaring the piss out of people when he's on the field, is MORE than enough weaponry to produce at least an average NFL offense, given a decent scheme. Our actual problems include: We do not hit home runs on offense. The Jets completed only SEVEN passes that traveled over 25 yards through the air at a 25% clip. While reliable in getting 2-3 yards at a time as opposed to being stuffed for no gain or a loss (sign a good run-blocking O-Line), we were LAST in the league at open field rushing (sign of poor RB play). Solutions for 2012: We drafted a tall, fast, home run hitting potential type WR in Round 2. Shonn Greene is getting raved about like he's gonna have a big year. I feel like we've heard that one before, we'll see. We don't get enough first downs. The Jets were a solid red zone team in 2011, but we had an awful lot of trouble getting in there. Without big plays to move it down the field, you need steady production to pile up first downs. We had neither. 30% of our drives ended in 3 and outs, 28th best. Because of this, the defense faced 201 drives against, the most in football. But because the defense was so good (better than most of you realize), the offense also had an excellent amount of opportunities, which is why despite not being at all good, we still scored some points. The Jets offense had the 2nd highest number of total drives with 198, AND had the 3rd best average starting field position (the 31) but were 28th in yards per drive. Solutions for 2012: A new offense. While I think predictability will still be a calling card for the Jets, the Sparano regime should bring back smash mouth football to Gang Green. The focus is on winning matchups rather than a complex tree of reading and reacting. If we genuinely do have superior talent, it's going to get the chance to shine. Better ball control (and hopefully less turnovers) should increase the average drive length and first down rate, while home run attempts will probably stay minimal.
