GMC, I quoted you so you could read what you wrote once more. Dude. Really? What are we talking about? Anyhow, I think between McKnight, Powell, and Ganaway, somebody is going to be a successful backup and/or 3rd down guy. Benson may be an upgrade in talent against these guys, but I don't think it's worth taking him.
I reported about the NYJETS being interested in Benson and then im ridiculed for it. COME ON MAN............when attacked I bite back! Sorry
I too am against the Benson move. I think we have some great young RB's and if we have them let's use them!
I don't think as little of Greene as you do, but I don't see a guy that can carry the ball 300 times either. I think Benson and Greene could be a nice combo.
How do you know they have great young RBs when only Greene has ever done anything. I hope you're right though, I'd like to see the Pats pick him up.
I appreciate your optimism, but "great young RB's" is based on what exactly? What have they done in the NFL?
He averaged 3.9 YPC last year. Wouldn't be a bad option to backup Greene (with McKnight as the third down back) if Powell doesn't pan out.
If there is any team to use four backs I want it to be and should be the Jets We need someone to replace LT and I doubt Ganaway a sixth round draft pick is our answer to bring back our running game of 2009-10 form. Ground and POund is our mentality "supposedly" and with Greene and Benson we would upgrade our ground and pound signifigantly Powell hasnt even reach the field barely at all, Mcknight does not fit our scheme but is a nice change of pace. And like I said Ganaway cant be relied on this season, bringing Benson for a year is a solid move. I'm for it, as long as this doesn't hinder any chance at a RT.
Is he willing to come in for dirt cheap and take big hits in the ground-and-pound (thus reducing Greene's wear'n'tear)? The answer to that question is my answer to Cedric.
The only thing I remember Powell doing was fumbling at the goal line and Slausen recovering it for a TD.
Just like Schotty drew it up I can't tell if Rex talking about Powell is his typical stuff because the beat writers are also saying he has looked impressive. We just need him to share the load with Greene, not be a #1 back
I dont think little of Greene I think hes a great RB. Dont put words in my mouth. I also think they can be a great duo and win us games.
They haven't had a chance to do anything really, except Greene. That's why when you have a log jam at RB, especially with untapped resources, there's no need to bring in a veteran. RB is the most plug-and-play position in the league. The only reason you bring in a veteran is for tutorials, and LT already passed his knowledge down to Greene, Powell and McKnight who in turn should carry that torch. I like Ced Ben and what he brings to the table, but I agree with others, after the Otah trade falling through, the Jets need to secure OL depth.
No more retreads, PLEASE!!!!! it is time for Joe Mac and Powell to crap or get off the pot!!!!! As I have said a Few times here this is a " prove u belong here season" For a number of players, those two are high on that list. So barring injury we should win or lose with what the Jets have drafted and placed there future hopes on.
Greene and Benson are the same player except Benson has more mileage. No thanks. Powell is gonna be a factor this year.
I would welcome Benson if it was a 1 year deal at low cost. McKnight and Powell are not really between the tackles type of RB. Both are better suited for a 3rd down role. Now Ganaway is the key here. I know he was just removed form the PUP and he will dress on Friday. No one knows how he will perform. And those clamoring for a RT, please tell me WHO is available that you want.
