The Bleacher Report is terrible, but I just wanted to post their "rankings" of the best CB trio in the NFL to bring up a discussion about where the Jets are / should be. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1274033-power-ranking-the-best-cornerback-duos-in-the-nfl/page/11 I don't understand how they can call Kyle Wilson a "draft bust." Also they don't give Cromartie very much credit at all, and they don't use any statistics at all to support their rankings. Does anyone have any information as to where, objectively, the Jets rank in terms of their CB "trio"? I would think that they would be 1st in the league, but perhaps not.
Its impossible to truly objectively rank a trio. I mean your pass rush, safeties, schedule, weather, all come into play. I mean say the Jets and Pats both play vs Peyton Manning. Jets play them in a dome, Pats play them outside in the snow. Theres just too many variables to truly be objective.
I think the Jets are tops in terms of talents simply because of the starters obviously ... calling Wilson a bust is a bit premature. Not sure how to really rank a trio though I think the Fins have a good trio with Davis, Smith, and now Richard Marshall. Their defense will play more man this year with Kevin Coyle as opposed to playing more zone last year I think in part to help mask some safety issues
Obviously there are variables, but you can look at the 3 individuals objectively using opposing QB rankings, etc. PFF has ranked CBs objectively before -- I just haven't seen the 3 CBs of each team put together in any legitimate ranking.
This. The key to pass defense is pass rush. We didn't have a rush, I'll take our three guys any day and so would the majority of d coordinators I'm sure. Cromartie is a sniper, make no mistake. He has size, long speed, hands, return game breaker; worth every penny he makes and u don't know shit about football if u can't understand this.
For what it's worth: Lindy's Pro Football Preview Mag ranks all positions like this: #1 Corner 1) Revis 2) Greer 3) Asomugha 4) Woodson 5) Champ 6) Carlos Rogers 7) Vontae Davis 8) Flowers 9) Webb 10) Gamble #2 Corner 1) Tramon Williams 2) Tracy Porter 3) Brandon Carr 4) DRC 5) Cromartie Nickel 1) Dunta Robinson 2) Jimmy Smith 3) Kyle Wilson 4) Marcus Trufant 5) Richard Marshall Total secondary rankings: 1) NYJ 2) Ravens 3) Cards 4) 9ers 5) Seahawks 6) Eagles 7) Falcons 8) Bills 9) KC 10) Texans
This is a "football" forum, you need to find Kurt schillings fake bloody sock website where all you chummers can commiserate. plz choke yourself till I say stop.
What a laughable article. Yes, Cromartie sucks and Wilson is a bust. Like, seriously? Typical nonsense. Cromartie is a good player, and Wilson has gotten better.
It's the bleacher report. If guys are going to spend a LOT of time upset if you keep reading these types of articles on that trash website. Edit: These are the type of posters that this website goes for -- in the comments:
Wow. Douchebag. If anyone thinks Asante will change any teams ranking, think again. He's old, slow, and not a cover corner. Dunta Robinson is good, but he's not even a top 10 corner in the league. If three corners averaging 30 years old rank first in the NFL CB trios, something is wrong. And to add to that him claiming Kyle Wilson is a bust, I don't know what else to call him, but douchefuckingbag.
Cromartie may have the hardest job for his position. Playing across from Revis. Wilson is not a bust, and ive called him one in the past. Doesnt really matter. Its not the corners we have to worry about.
Why the Cromartie hate? The quarterback rating is one thing, but his completion percentage against was 47% or something close. On another note, can we have a serious discussion on Kyle Wilson and where he ranks amongst Nickle corners?
