2008 1st Round pick from Carolina.

Via the team's official twitter: The Jets have traded for T Jeff Otah from the Carolina Panthers in exchange for an undisclosed conditional draft choice.

He's started 29 games in 4 seasons. 6'6'' 340, road grader. Instant competition for Hunter.

GREAT DEAL.(Pending on cost of course)

He will replace Hunter. F that BS that Hunter is good.

Otah WHEN HEALTHY(That's the key) is a very good RT. Had a little fallout under Rivera I suppose but he was a big part of the Williams/Stewart explosion at RB. He's a heck of a run hole creator.

when healthy he has started, but thats only been 29 starts since he was drafted. Seems that he has had knee surgery and some other knee issues to sideline him

    EDIT: From his wikipedia page
    2008 NFL Draft
Coming in the 2008 NFL Draft Otah was considered by many scouts to be a top tackle prospect. The Carolina Panthers were reportedly very interested in him, evident by them sending head coach John Fox and General Manager Marty Hurney to his pro-day.

    Carolina Panthers
Reports of the Panthers being interested in Otah proved to be well founded after the team made a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles to trade up and to select him. He was selected with the 19th pick in the first round. Otah sat out the entire 2010 season with a knee injury. Jeff became an immediate starter at right tackle early in training camp. He started in 12 of the possible 16 games his first season missing 4 due to injury.

Otah started the 2010 season recovering from what was then thought to be relatively minor knee surgery performed in mid-August. But on 9 November, the Panthers placed Otah on injured reserve, ending his season without him ever taking the field.

Otah's knee problems persisted into the 2011 season, and he was placed on injured reserve again on 19 October 2011, after missing two of six games.

Otah has missed all but four games the last two years. So health is a big question mark. But if he's right, one of the best RT in football.

Wow, is this for real? I mean Olah.

Getting an RT to replace Hunter was as of this morning the single biggest thing that could be done to improve the team, other than trading Sanchez for a top fifteen Qb, of course.

They traded up in the first for him. He's got talent, but MAJOR knee problems. Ended up on IR 3 times I believe

Assuming its a late round flier I love the trade, but his knee is a major red flag

The conditional trade has to be based on number of games he starts/plays.

Good for us either way because, if he plays multiple games we're set at RT. If not, we likely won't have to give up much for him.

    As per ROTOWORLD

AJets acquired OT Jeff Otah from the Panthers in exchange for a conditional draft choice.
Fare thee well, Wayne Hunter. The Panthers had run out of patience with Otah's continual knee woes, but he represents a potentially massive upgrade on turnstile Hunter if he can stay healthy. That's a rather large "if," however, after Otah appeared in just four games the past two seasons. He missed time in Carolina's offseason program with knee soreness, but is expected to be 100 percent for training camp.
