The ONLY smidgeon of hope I have is that we'll be going to a man-block scheme with simpler terminology. Hunter had a fuckload of false start penalties, is it legal for players to wear hearing aides?
because they will not leave him isolated against premeir pass rushers this year. expect to see alot of help from t.e's and rb's.i also expect to see alot of p.a. rollouts to keep the pass rush from teeing off on 1 spot. also mangold is healthy which will allow moore oppurtuniteis to help out to the right instead of shading to the middle. it's going to be o.k everyone, take a step away from the ledge and get ready for a good season
Because as bad as he was last year we were 8-8. With an easier schedule, and better all around roster, its hard to imagine us doing worse. Not to mention it has to be impossible for him to play worse than he did last year... I hope
how? hunter played well in place of woody in 2010.no one saw this kind of drop off coming.if anyone failed its the c.s. for not making adjustments when he was struggling.i think that will be where the improvements come from.
We should be concerned about Hunter; but draw comfort from the fact that, Sparano is unlikely to be as stupid and stubborn as Scottenheimer was, and wont leave Hunter isolated against the best pass rushers in the NFL.
The guy was a lifetime backup and played just Okay in 3-4 games to where he wasnt a liability. Its not like he was a young player still developing and showed a bright future ahead. No reason to sign him to a 4 year deal.
I think this is probably the best reason; the team should know how much he sucks at this point and will/should go out of their way to help him.
Actually at the end of 2010 season Hunter started against Chicago, NE and Pittsburgh twice, he was tested throughout those games and held up well against Peppers and fuckin Woodley. It was this stretch run that was their evidence for handing him the starting job. After playing well in 4 road games all against playoff teams, they thought he could start. His performance in 2011 was a collosal dissapointment.
Yeah I forgot Woody was injured for that long... Its still a head scratcher, but mainly because of how shitty he played last season.
Ya those games are a distant memory after 2011. The Jets tried hard to be a passing offense in 2011, it made everyone worse. I can't say I'm confident Hunter will be better but a change in philosophy should be good.
this is the why i think this year will be better. lat year they forgot everything that led them to 2 straight afcg. the defense wasn't that crazy band of lunatics it was in '09-10. the special teams were very sloppy and no where near what westhoff usually gives you and the offense was evrything thats been said 1,00 times before on this board. rex will get the defense back to being the agressive blitz crazy monster we expect westhoff will dial in the specials and all the offense has to do is be middle of the road and this is a playoff contender. even the darkest of darksiders can't argue the offense has average talent on this roster and once in the playoffs anything can happen, right nyg fans?
Maybe they kept Hunter because they Really are committed to Tebow at the QB spot. You can't throw INT's if you are on the IR.
I know he played like crap last year but I really hope he took offense to people saying he sucked and was embarrassed and buried his head in the play book and concentrated on the fundamentals and contributes this season. I think he at least deserves a shot to redeem himself
1- Hunter spent his career coming off the bench, leveling a defensive lineman, going back to the bench. And he did it well. Being a 'starter', playing EVERY snap of EVERY game, paying ATTENTION in offensive meeting, on and on is night and day different from what he had been doing the previous 9 yrs. 2011 was a HUGE wake up call, especially getting shelled early. 2- 2012 brings an EXPERIENCED Hunter. Plus a full offseason, OTAs, mini camps, and full camp as the man on the right side. He won't be surprised by anything in 2012 like he was in 2011. 3- Zone blocking may be a better match for his skill set. Can't be any worse. 4- Offensive lineman LOVE a running game. Running puts the offensive lineman on the ATTACK. Passing plays on the other hand force the lineman to back peddle and 'react' to the stunts, blitzes, bull rushes, speed rushes, and whatever else comes their way. Lineman love to ATTACK, and Sparano's return to the ground and pound is an offensive lineman's dream come true. Hunter will do better in the run game vs the pass game. At least when he gets someone killed, it will be Greene, not Sanchez. 5- In passing situations, Hill will become Hunters best friend. No longer can defenses double and triple Keller and Holmes. Hill will force defenses to play 'honest' (something Burress could never do between the 20's). Which means between Holmes, Hill, Kerly, and Keller, Sanchez should be able to find someone open in under 17 seconds, unlike last year. Hunter won't have to hold the point for an eternity. Between and experienced WFT with a full training camp, a return to our ground and pound roots with zone blocking, and true receiver threats to keep the D honest, WFT may earn the comeback player of the year award. Pro bowl baby!
1. Who is this WFT guy you are talking about? 2. Experienced WFH is still WFH. No other way around it. He's best used as a bench member, not a starter. 3. WFH starting at RT necessitates TE chipping and RB chipping on their way out. That places limit on routes they can run. All in all, if the RT requires constant help, the GM should get someone better. (which T-Bomb not only decided not to do, but also did against that wisdom by guaranteeing WFH's salary.)
