He created that offense with a lot of input from Tebow, who taught many of the finer points of the read option to both the players and coaches.
Yep, he's great at reading schemes when the play is a run. He's not good at reading coverages and putting the ball at a particular point to exploit what the defense gives him on pass plays.
That was awesome, wasn't it? But one game doesn't change the fact he's struggled at times. Let's just say he's got a ways to go. His completion average is an indicator of that. Jaworski did a great job of analyzing where he needs to improve.
Then call up the Patriots and see how they feel. ONE pass doesn't mean youre good. My god man, he was BAD more than he was good. That's why we dont believe he will be any good as a nfl qb. He won some games with LUCK. No onside kick recovery in Miami (which he had nothing to do with) and they lose. The Bears RB falls down in bounds and again they lose. Leaving him UNDER .500 as a starter. two plays and no playoffs. Admit it.. The broncos pulled some serious luck out of their asses. That team sucked.
See, that's where folks go too far. He also had a 95 yd drive against the Jets that had nothing "lucky" about it. The Giants had some luck, too, but no one's saying they didn't deserve to be in the SB.
How is that too far? Is it not the truth? The Broncos / Tebow needed luck in two games and they got it. Otherwise they lose those two and are 6-10 instead of 8-8 and tebow isn't 8-5 as a starter he is 6-7, with no playoff for everyone one of these guys to point to like it wipes out all the crap play we saw ona regular basis. As far as the Jets game, yes he drove then 95 yards and it was good on him but he never should have been anywhere near that position as our offense was held in check by a defense playing lights out. Before that game we had games of 24, 27,27,16, and after that 28,34,37. Now you tell me who was responsible for that game? The denver defense held us 10 pts under our season average. If Sanchez and co dont shit the bed that game should have been a cinch. Tebow was 9-20 for 104 yards, and 68 yards rushing and a TD. If it wasnt for the Pick 6 they would have needed a TD and a FG in that last few minutes just to tie it. Otherwise they had a total of 3 pts from their offense all night long.
Of course they wouldn't. And yet, he drove his team down the field, went 3of 5 and won the game. As has been pointed out, no one remembers all the improbable things that had to happen when other teams do similar things - "The Drive" by Elway against Cleveland being a perfect example. You can play the "otherwise" card with almost any game. The Pittsburgh game shouldn't have been as close as it was, there was at least one facemask that was missed and another bad call that went against the Broncos. Not giving Tebow any credit whatsoever is almost as stupid as saying he singlehandedly carried the Broncos to the playoffs. But we generally see more of the former from the blind haters than we do the latter from the Tebow homers.
Tebows best attribute as a player is he can come through in the clutch. The situation does not get to big for him. This is the advantage of playing at big school like Florida and all the media attention. This is a great trait as Qb in the NFL especially in NY. If Tebow starts for the Jets the love fest will end after one bad game it is just the nature of NY. Sanchez led the team or at least was Qb for two Afcc games and the media and a lot of fans have turned on him and he is only in his fourth year.
If... if... if... if... But guess what? The ifs you mentioned didn't happen. End of story. In any close game, there will be "ifs". Fact is, Tebow and the Broncos won 8 and lost 5 games last year with him as the starter. And Tebow came through in the clutch... regardless of whether the defense played well. You can't penalize the QB for the defense playing well. He still has to put up more points than the other team to win the game.
Ok, let's take away wins from EVERY QB whose defense made any plays during the game. You seem to have no problem talking about how defenses supposedly "figured out Tebow", so essentially Stafford, Orton, Brady, etc... should not get ANY credit for beating the Broncos.
except I am pretty sure they win those games without the Defense having to score..see the difference? On one hand you have teams lead by QBs that average 25+ pts per game and the other 16 pts per game. So the defense becomes MUCH MORE VALUABLE to the QB that has to squeek every single game he has ever played out.
All true. And as has been stated by Champ Bailey, among others, there's a lot of value to the defense in having a QB they believe can win the game in the last 5 minutes. Champ's been quoted as saying the defense plays hard because they know with Tebow, if it's close, they have a chance.
The other thing is these games turn out like chess matches. One team seems committed to a slow-it-down run style, the other becomes more conservative, and they get locked in a grapple. Each one knows that one mistake or turnover could turn the tide. Neither team is in catchup mode, or "air it out" mode. The Broncos got in a lot of these last year, and it helps the defense look better defensively. Other times, the game took on more of a shootout feel. The Vikings was a high scoring affair (don't know what happened with this defense everybody keeps lauding), and Tebow and the offense answered the bell. Same with the Raiders -- more scoring all along in that game, and the Broncos O put the beat down on the Raiders 38-24. In the Bills and Lions game, it went the other way -- the defense did not play well, the opponent was in "air it out" high scoring mode, and Tebow and the Broncos O did not answer the bell. They crapped all in the bed. The final Chiefs game was one where the "chess match" thing held up, and Tebow and the O did not close the deal. Terrible game by Tebow. Kind of like Sanchez game against the Broncos.
they just need to rename this forum section Tebows Circle Jerk good football player but youd assume hes been a 10 time all pro with the levelof excuses and revisionist history used to support him
They should rename the forum "People Who Want to Talk About Tebow as a QB Being Interrupted By People Who Hate Him That Can't Keep Away From Tebow Discussions"
Anyways, back on topic... I think that this year will be similar to Tebow's freshman year and in some ways is unfair to Sanchez. Tebow will get all the short yardage and goal line situations and it will make him look like the hero. Chris Leak did a very good job as the starting QB, but it kind of got lost in the fray. I just hope that they don't drink the Kool-Aid in NY and start up that running option offense garbage that Fox and McCoy dreamt up if Tebow gets the starting job at some point. Spread Option with Tebow, FTW. I think Sanchez is ok as a QB... hopefully they do well together, but man I wouldn't want to be him right now with Tebow on his heels.
