Looks like he's ready to go. I wonder if the Jets will pick him up or at least give him a workout. I wouldn't mind him coming back to help teach the n00bs. If we sign him it should be pretty soon. I just don't want the Pats or Bills to get a hold of him.

I think Leonhard is an important transitional piece. If you factor in how reliable he is barring injuries (now we have more depth) it seems like a no-brainer.

The Jets are saving money for the BIG holdout.

    Sign this Beast.

He won't start, but we need depth on FS. Plus he will go for vet min. Leonhard is a proven winner even though he gets hurt a lot.

My favorite Jet the past three years (when he was healthy). Hoping Tanny and Rex bring him back.

If Landry goes down, a distinct possibility based on his history, the starting safeties would be Bell and Smith. Sounds no better than last year to me. A healthy Leonhard as a backup would mean the D wouldn't miss a beat if Landry or Bell gets injured. And while he's not playing he'd have the time to teach Rex's system to the rookies. Seems like a no- brainer.

Should we carry 6 safties? I'd love to bring Leonhard back, but I can't see us carrying 6 safties on the roster.

I'd love to see him come back. He's smart, knows the system, and leaves it all in the field each and every game. There has not been a snap that I saw, that Jimmy played in which he did not give it his all. If nothing else, the rookies would greatly benefit from his work ethic and dedication.

If we end up in a lot of 4-6 formations like we're hearing I think it does make sense to add another vet free safety. Specially one that knows the system well like Jimmy.

Leonard over the top with Landry / Bell playing the LB/SS hybrid? That could be nasty.

Think it's pretty safe to say Bush won't be ready this year, and we really only have SS types on the roster as of right now. I'm not sure I trust any of our 5 safeties to start and excel at the FS position right now.

if we sign him before week 1 his contract is fully guaranteed for the year ... barring injury, i doubt we sign him before the season starts

If it's vet minimum ( aging FS with injury issues will probably only get that ) then this isn't a huge deal. 800k off the books is nothing. Think we're still looking at about 8mil for our Cap # I believe.
