a jet fan since they started in 1960

this years draft is super-----may take till next season to find coples----hill----davis--ganaway are top notch

jets are strong enuf now to compete for wild card----almost made it last year but just fell short

i expect in 2013 the jets to be a top notch team with all the rookies we drafted----starters as well as back ups----griffin ---allen ----bush were all rated very high by usatoday and profootball weekly

i keep hoping jets will sign plax and braylon to give them top notch receivers----can prob be signed near vets minimum-------jet receivers now just a bit inexperienced----hoping one can turn out like victor cruz who came from nowhere to be an all star-----thats what jets are missing wrs who can go downfield and beat the dbs

    LETS GO JETS

The way I see it is 2011 was the dud and 2012 will be the vengeance. I expect playoffs and this team/staff make noise in the playoffs.

    1. Plax can go fuck himself.

    2. Braylon must have some serious problem - no team is trying to touch him with 10 foot pole.

    3. 2012 may well be hold-the-fort year. They need to address RT, a slew of LBs and safeties. OLB/FS/RT in the first three picks would make me a happy man, with a few safeties and LBs in the mix with later picks.

Every year is all or nothing. Make it to the play offs and anything can happen. Of course, it would be nice to have home field advantage for once.

Our cap is tight as a snare drum for 2013, and that's after we cut several significant but overpriced contributors.

Why would I assume the Jets would be a better team?

The kids (Coples, Hill, Davis & co.) I too am looking forward to seeing. But c'mon, Plexico Burris? That one-trick-pony-from-yesterday has left the barn.

    Tons of key young guys.

Notably Sanchez Kerley Hill Coples Wilkerson Davis Ellis (McKnight or Ganaway one of the 2 has to be useful) Wilson Bush/Allen

Obviously not all of these guys are going to improve, but if even a 3rd of them reach expectations this team is gonna go improve a ton.

Not to mention our cap situation was effed up this year and look how much we improved. Monster draft and all.

After the guys who get cut saving tons of cash (pace/scott/hunter/smith) then you got

Revis deal is going to get restructured, which will also lower his cap # for the year.

Pouha possibly gets restructured or cut (4m in savings)

I also suspect (purely speculation) that if we are really cap strapped and need to sign someone that we strongly consider trading Cromartie after this year letting Wilson step in, freeing up a ton of cap space as well as getting us an extra early round pick to fill more needs for a low cost.

Cromartie can easily be most teams #1 corner, so we could certainly get back the 2nd we gave up for him along with 10m + in savings

  10. If some of these young & talented players can gain consistency, the sky is the limit for this team moving forward. "If" is a big word though.

    Plaxico Burress and Braylon Edwards..

Gotta have an experienced QB to get them the ball - let's get Tim Couch

Have you seen the schedule for next season, or at least the teams that they are playing? Looks brutal. This is according to Bart Hubbuch from the Post.

Home: NE, Miami, Buffalo, Browns, Steelers, Saints, Bucs and TBD Afc West Opponent
Road: Ne, Miami, Buffalo, Ravens, Bengals, Falcons, Panthers, TBD AFC South Opponent

    Looks pretty brutal to me

Exactly. 2013 has the potential to be a year of major change because of the cap - and I think 2012 will set in motion these changes. It's all about Sanchez. IF this season is a crash and burn (like the analysts are predicting) and the Jets are facing an offseason having to get behind the cap there could be a major rebuilding effort. (releasing Sanchez, trading Revis for draft picks, rebuilding the offense completely with draft picks, perhaps changes in the front office/Coaching staff etc)

If 2012 isn't such a dud like the ESPN boys are begging for there's still going to be roster manuevers to free up cap space. We will probably see a lot of vets go but probably not to the degree in the previous scenario, but I have no reason to believe 2013 will be better because the cap situation, aging players and Revis' F##ked up situation. The only way I see 2013 and 2012 by that matter being better is if Sanchez takes major strides and steps up big time. As a fan I hope so.

Browns, Tampa, Atlanta, Carolina, Cinci are all teams we match up very well against.

afc south ill take any team in the division.

And the afc west team is coming to us so we have a distinct advantage.

Then you got New Orleans (again playing us here and NOT at their place) and ravens/steelers.

I dont think thats that bad

Why does everyone have an enormous man crush on Ganaway? These rookies haven't been through 1 training camp in their life!

July is the month of the year were all these delusional fans think their teams had the draft of the century and their team is headed to the SB. Geez...

To be fair I had an enormous man crush on Ganaway and Coples way before we drafted them.

Ganaway has some serious potential as a bruiser, and considering how late we got him the value was incredible.

For a while I thought we had no chance at getting him, when his value supposedly went as high as late 2nd-4th.

So all things considering its hard not to love the pick. Especially since I think he offers more than Powell and McKnight as a HB.

When I was a kid in the mid- '60s I'd buy every cheap pulp magazine I could find that had rosters, stats and predictions. They'd come out every July. Every team had had a great draft and was gonna win the championship. I'd pore over them for hours, reading about how Dick Wood was a great QB or Mike Taliaferro was gonna be rookie of the year. Great memories.

Hope springs eternal for every fan in July.
