I thought thats what it was called? I know its close to like the St. Mathews / Stoneybrooke areas? Is that right? I think his house was built in the ealry 90's.
What did they add ? Option runs from the shotgun formation and from I and single back sets. What else ?
Here's a Google Map link with directions from where I lived in Meadowview Estates to Ashfield Lane. http://goo.gl/maps/401w Ashfield Lane is about 1.5 miles away. You drive straight down Taylorsville, Rd past Meadowview, turn left onto Browns Lane. Go straight and Browns changes to Lowe Rd. Then Ashfield is about .3 miles down (can turn either left or right onto Ashfield.) And yeah, St. Matthews is just a bit North of there and Stonybrook is to the East. If you look at the map, at the intersection where Browns Ln changes into Lowe Rd, if you turn left there it will take you into St. Matthews. BTW, if you happened to go into Street view and look at where I used to live, you will see that I cleverly disguised my trailer as a 150+ year old 2 story farmhouse
Of course not! How many times does someone have to say it was a team effort? You can't win a freaking football game with one player. The point is that Tebow is green as hell, and you would think was in over his head playing against the Steelers. But he held up his end enough for them to win, and addressed some of his shortcomings from the week before. Man, it gets so tiresome hearing it repeated over and over "you give tebow all the credit!" It's just that the teams wins are part of his record in evaluating the player. Stats are for losers. You look more at stats in a loss. Win the effort was good enough to win, the stats don't matter as much. That's all. Doesn't mean the player singlehandedly won the game. It means that nitpicking the stats is less important because, well, winning.
Sounds like a myriad of craptasticness. It's a miracle they did what they did. That defense seemed to help. Von Miller is going to be a beast.
Man, I'm just about sick of you. For real. Tebow reads defenses pretty damn well. If you look at what he did to ummm... the JETS on that game winning score. He read it perfectly. He is a real QB and won real NFL games and a real NFL playoff game. McCoy was a terrible OC last year. Maybe the worst in the NFL. That offense was predictable and vanilla. 3 and outs all day until the 4th quarter. Then they ditch the ridiculous McCoy offense, cut Tebow loose, spread it out, and in the last 5 minutes it's TEBOW TIME! That is the narrative of 2011. That is what was so crazy about the Broncos last year. They held Tebow back, then had no choice but to let him free in the 4th quarter. Then everyone blames it on the kid and says he sucks in the first three quarters. How about the idiot coaches?
well you say tomato and I say tomahto. you blame the coaches I blame Tebow. We wont know until the end of the year will we. If Tebow does nothing in NYC and Manning lights it up with the same set of guys that Tebow had I expect you to take it like a man and come here and admit im right. I will do the same.
Denver's already made some serious upgrades and brought in some weapons for Manning, namely, Brandon Stokely and Jacob Tamme, two guys that Manning already has chemistry with. Add to that, Decker and DT gained experience last year (yes, even with Tebow passing the ball) and they will all have a full offseason working with Manning. Additionally, Manning will do what he has done for years, which is to run whatever damned plays he feels like running when he gets to the line. In short, when they signed Manning, they got a HoF QB AND upgraded the Offensive Coordinator position, even without getting rid of McCoy
In my view, you're laying the groundwork for excuses already. I'm willing to say it -- the Broncos will get mauled, and stay thoroughly in mediocrity where they were last year. If they do great, I'll man up and say they surprised me. But I don't get into predictions -- I'm just a fan, and they play the games because predictions are almost always wrong in some way. Even for the experts.
No groundwork for excuses there. Do you not see a difference between having pretty much the exact same team and adding Peyton Manning, to adding Peyton Manning and then giving him a vet receiver that he has chemistry with as well as a very good pass catching TE that he also has chemistry with ? Do you think Denver would have been even more potent next year if Reggie Wayne had signed with them ? Or Pierre Garcon ? How about if Jeff Saturday had come in at Center ? It's common sense to note that Peyton wasn't the only addition that they made, and that those additions made the team better even if you took Manning out of the equation. Also, who do you think will really be calling the plays ? McCoy ? If it is Manning, don't you think that alone is an upgrade from McCoy calling the plays ?
Yeah, you are not making excuses... it is a valid point. That is not the "exact" same team as last year. They also do not have a losing mentality of being one of, if not the worst, teams (record wise). Tebow left them in better condition than he found them in. They are coming off a playoff victory, added receivers and TE, and HOF Peyton Manning has all offseason to work with the offense. He's not getting thrown in after a 1-4 start coming off a lockout with little reps. The Broncos fans should erect a statue of Tebow thanking him for what he brought to the team, instead they bash him. Me personally, I think the Broncos will be mediocre at best this year. I'll be a man and take the heat if I am wrong. I just don't think Peyton Manning is the same player and they gave up too much for him.
So? Things are slightly different every year for every team. Just like there were slight differences when Tebow was able to have success. Stokely is the upgrade? What is he, 48 years old? And Manning's ability to function as OC is a credit to him. I agree that McCoy is not a good OC, but neither is Tebow. Tebow needs to be with a coach that knows how to use him -- that's just a limit to his game. Manning goes in and starts bossing everybody around. So the results of that are to his credit -- or blame. I'd be fine with acknowledging some significant upgrades. But there is no game-changing receiver, the O-line hasn't changed, and the running backs are the same. The only true difference that should be acknowledged is the addition of the tight ends -- perhaps McCoy will finally utilize that position (which would have helped Tebow).
Didn't they only have a bye week to try and get in new plays? It's not only Tebow that has to learn them, but all 11 offensive players that will be on the field. Add in the fact that they presumed Tebow/Quinn would be running the offense that Orton ran, that they studied in TC and all season. I thought Fox and Co. did a good job trying to adjust the offense and philosophy to fit Tebow at the time. They didn't have a whole season to do it. If you want to blame them for anything blame them for lack of preparation and truly judging the skills of their players. They believe Tebow could run the offense, but it seems they didn't have a back up plan even though he wasn't a good practice player.
So not only were the Broncos holding back Tebow, but Brandon Stokely and Jacob Tamme are "serious upgrades" for Manning? You guys are beyond ridiculous.
Under the CBA, 2 practices in pads are allowed during the entire 2 weeks. The bye week is like a negotiated break. It's better than nothing for install, but you can't install a playbook in a bye week. Besides, you can look at the games. The majority of the plays they ran were not new or special. They were from the traditional offense. General rule of thumb -- the plays that were working were the new ones. The plays that were not ( even Tebow's fault) were the same ones they'd been running on their previous tear of 5-16. People love to lionize McCoy because they hate Tebow, but he was part of the dumpster of fail left over from the Josh McDaniels regime. McCoy is entitled to his own shot and a fair chance. But he's not entitled to a huge benefit of doubt just because he's not Tebow.
Probably so on all this. The one thing that Tebow's missed out on is one shot at a team trying full time to develop him. He's gone from red shirt, to coach fired, to lock out, to new coach saying "We'll just run the old playbook and see of Orton looks better running 80% of the reps in an offense he's run for years." No player would really hold up like that. They might be better looking than Tebow at practice, but hardly anybody comes in right out of school and looks like a pro compared to veterans.
They gave up nothing for Manning other than cash and he took a pay cut from the $28 million the Colts were on the hook for. As far as WR / TE upgrades...Stokley is a million years old and is only there to make Manning feel comfy. Tamme is an upgrade, unless the really good young kid ( i cant recall his name) somehow lives up to expectations. As someone posted, excuses, excuses, excuses. If the Broncos are better than last year its because of one guy, If he turns DT or any of those other guys in to ALL-PRO status then we will know it wasnt them it was their QB. Same goes for sacks and dropped passes. I say they the Passing numbers go up by 50%, scoring goes up by a TD or more per game and sacks drop also I think and a couple of the guys have career years.
People forget that the game plan for The steelers was fantastic then he left the following week for interviews when IMO should have been game planning for NE. I put much of that playoff disaster on McCoy.
Stokely is a vet receiver who knows and understand Peyton. He'll be a great asset to that receiver corps. At the end of last season, before the Manning pursuit even happened, many of us were talking about Denver's need for a vet receiver to teach/mentor the younger receivers and to help Tebow. They got that mentor/teacher in Stokely. Also, Stokely has chemistry with Peyton as I mentioned. I'm willing to bet that while he might not put up huge numbers, he'll be one of Peyton's "go to" guys in tight situations. You are definitely right about Tebow, he needs a coach who knows how to use him and one that will coach/teach him, as he is still a very raw, young player. The point that was in question was the team / staff that surrounded Tebow last year. I have stated that the team was very weak offensively, that they didn't have many weapons, the receiver corps was young and inexperienced, the Oline sucked in pass protection and that Mike McCoy was a terrible OC. Countering this, someone said "well, if Peyton does well this year, that'll prove you to be wrong". My point is that no, it won't. Peyton succeeding when he is calling the plays and McCoy basically carries the clipboard and hands him some water doesn't show that McCoy is a good OC or playcaller. How would it ? The playcalling will have been taken out of McCoy's hands. Hell, Peyton will probably have a huge amount of input into the game planning as well. Again, this removes the impact of McCoy's ineptness. having a great TE in Jacob Tamme changes things up as well. Last year, many of us were screaming about the need for a good TE who could run routes and actually catch the ball. A good TE is a QBs safety net. You don't think that Cam benefited quite a bit from having Olsen and Shockey last year ? They combined for 82 catches. We saw in the SB what happens when a QB loses a good TE, as the Pats weren't close to being the same with a limited Gronk. Or think about how Peyton has fared after losing a TE. So no, Peyton succeeding in Denver this year wouldn't do much to disprove my initial contentions about McCoy, the young receiver corps, or the pass protection of the Oline.
