Okay so Im in another sports group and the question came up.. Who is and was better Deion Sanders or Darelle Revis? So I said basically I think its a tie and that their both shut down corners of their respective times. I think Deion is an all time great and Revis has the potential to be all time great and is on the path. Deion was faster but Revis is more physical.

Then the flood gates opened with responses about Revis Cant even live in the shadow of Deion. How the next best player closest to Sanders were Charles Woodson,Rod Woodson, and Darelle Green. How Charles won a Heismann and Won a Superbowl and was an MVP. Let me know what you all think. I really think Revis is the next best thing and wouldnt be top 5 rated by his peers and the first defense player on the list if his game isnt tight.

Deion was a game-changer on special teams, that should be considered. When it comes to defense, though, I'm getting the impression that Revis is incredibly strong and physical, levels not normal for a corner, and we've seen him tackle well whereas Deion was more of a speedy corner, both shut their guys down regularly. Deion wasn't good in run support.

You could make an argument for either, but Revis isn't finished playing.

If they are debating "who is the better corner", then Deion's talent on special teams or offense is as irrelevant as his talent for playing baseball with the Braves .

If Revis played in the 90s, I think he'd allow only 1 catch max per game with the rule difference.

Its hard to say since theyre different.

Deoin is a better playmaker than Revis will EVER be. And is one of the best playmakers on defense all time period. (plus all the non corner stuff like playing WR, RB, wildcat passes, puts kicks etcs)

Revis is better at shutting down receivers as well unquestionably better at tackling/run support (Deoin was actually considered pretty poor at both)

So the question is whats more valuable. Having a guy like Revis who can keep a #1 receiver under 50 yards all and everyday.

Or having a guy like Deoin who can pick a ball off and take it back for a td, and completely change the tide of a game.

If you consider everything Deoin did for his teams I would say he is the more valuable player, however if youre considering ONLY cornerback play id give the edge to Revis.

Woodson stole the Heisman from Peyton. That was a damn joke. The Heisman lost all credibility after that fiasco.

Revis is in the top 5.

If you wanna compare them, you can only compare Revis to the first 5 seasons of Deon's career

Deion never even followed the other teams #1 receiver around, he played on one side of the field. The better coverage guy is Revis, no question about it. The better playmaker is Deion, no question.

Revis is the best CB in the league right now.

    Deion is the best ever.

Revis is a more physical player, but until late in his career Deion would hit pretty good too... more on WR's than big TE's and RB's. :D Even then, his lack of physical play is exaggerated some.

    You can't ignore 53 INT's for 1330 yards and 9 TD's. Averaging 25 yards per INT over 14 years.

Yes the rules have changed to the benefit of the offense, but I don't think they would have effected Deion's game at all. He had incredible speed to close the gap on receivers, he often played off to draw a pass to his guy.

2 different players, 2 different eras.

I'm not a Deion homer, but if we make a honest assessment, the better player is obvious. If the question comes up... Who would you rather have on your team? Deion wins hands down.

Yup, that pretty much sums it up.

It would've been cool to see Revis play in the '90s, before Bill Polian started crying and league made it illegal to play true press coverage.

Revis is the better CB. Sanders is the better football player.

Not since 08. Nnamdi is older and has come crashing down to earth. Even in his prime I'd say Revis now is better. He is still good but he's not shut down good anymore.

Revis is better than Charles Woodson and Green.

The top tier of CBs all-time consists of Sanders, Rod Woodson, Revis, Mike Haynes, Mel Blount, Dick Lane, Willie Brown and Jimmy Johnson.

Yeah, it matters what the argument is. Football player: Sanders. Corner: Revis.

don't forget about Champ Bailey who was a shut down corner in his prime.

IMO, Revis is the best since Deion.
