Ha. You would make a great Jets fan. Blind hatred and negativity for everything that ever happens. If we hear good news it means nothing. If we hear bad news its the end of the world. Perfect attitude for a Jets fan.
Because we have a HC that knows zero, zippo, nada, nothing about O we have to depend on TONY SPARANO for our O which to me sounds like the HC & FO did a very poor job in the off season
I highlighted some stuff that was of most interest to me: This is very interesting considering that Hill did not run a variety of routes in his career at Ga Tech. I am guessing he has a lot to learn about route running and attacking coverages, but it is a good sign that Sparano was impressed with what he saw so far. I like the thought of moving Dustin around. He's not really best suited to play on the line so if there are ways to get him out in space, I'd be all for it. McKnight could be our best playmaker this year, so I'm really excited to see him get an opportunity to play a bigger role in the offense this year. This is Vlad's first full offseason with the Jets and hopefully with a full offseason he will be able to show the improvement we all want from him. We had a tremendous amount of careless errors last year. Not just turnovers either. Dumb penalties, miscommunication on the OL, running pass routes into another receiver and not looking back for the ball as it's being thrown to you. If they clean these up, you will see great improvement over last year.
McKnight is entering his third year. He has yet to show much, other than puking and putting the ball on the ground. But... Just maybe he can make a real contribution going forward. I take a show us attitude on stuff like that. But if I had to point to one guy on O who I would say would be the best bet to upgrade his performance from last year, it would be him. If we can trust the article, McKnight has gotten stronger without losing a step. Since I don't see Greene as a good everydown back, a real contribution from McKnight could be huge, a major factor. Let's hope it comes to pass.
If Sparano likes to use multi-TE sets, we need another threat at TE. If we could get Fasano, that would be HUGE!!! Sorry but Cumberland and Baker isnt gonna cut it. We really dont have a legit #2 WR and if we could land Fasano, that would definitely make up for it.
If the fins cut Fasano and we picked him up it would be more about his blocking skills than his receiving skills. Sure he is a decent receiver to, but the fact that he's more well rounded is the draw. Cumberland can be more than good enough from a receiving perspective. Blocking at the TE position is where we are lacking.
If Sparano does nothing else, other than end our maddening practice of calling plays where we have, two, three and even four receivers, running routes right next to each other, making things ridiculously easy on the defense, we'll be hugely improved on offense.
I disagree. I would not be surprised to see alot of both Cumberland and Baker this coming season. Also I think you meant legit #2 TE.
How do you figure? Since Rex isn't an offensive minded coach, bringing in a new OC that is better at accountability on O is somehow means the FO did a poor job? I absolutely LOVE that logic. The circus must be in town, because I see a clown! Dude we did absolutely nothing this off season! It might as well not exist
This is true by Rex's own admission. BUT...with Rex being so good on Defense, it would seem to me he HAS to be even better on Offense, since it's the Offense he tries to shut down. The Offense is his enemy, and he knows different Offenses inside and out...how else can he plan so successfully to attack one? Rex knows what an Offense can do to give any Defense fits. As much as Rex is a Defensive genius, he's probably knows much more about Offense than most Offensive Coordinators. After all, it's Rex's job to out smart them.
I agree but calling plays is a whole different animal. He should be a big part of the game plan on offense though.
Being able to react to what an opponent is trying to do on D is not the same thing necessarily as knowing how to design an O to defeat what the opponent is trying to do on D, and then call the right plays for it. Both coordinators must react to the opponent, but I would say the nature of the DC's job is more reactive than the OC's job.
I don't mind the patsy fans on this board. They're far more intelligent and more realistic than the bills fans that vomit text all over these forums. Hell, they're more positive about the jets than half of the jets fans.
I can see it now 2014 "Sporana eyes his offensive work in progress"...2015 "Sporano eyes his offensive work in progress" Tony...fucking...Sporano folks.
Usually, I'm right there with you regarding the topics on this board; but this time, I have a more positive outlook. I'm a firm believer in evolution, learning, and things of that ilk, so I'm willing to trust (for now) Sporano's clean slate with the Jets. After watching a pedestrian Offensive system that made no major progress in 6 years under Schotty, Sporano is a much needed breath of fresh air. And if he has matured while also gaining more understanding of the game and how to utilize his players, how to maximize their talent and strengths, then there's hope.
Sheesh. So NOW they are trying to move Keller around? Just fucking Brilliant! Just for the record, I would like to tell you, I HAVE BEEN CRYING THAT OUT SINCE MANGINI DAYS. (Speaks volumes about that offensive coordinator guy we had a little while ago, no? Hah!) ----------------------------------------------------------------- Today's NFL is all about creating mismatches. Keller is a mismatch - at LoS, any LB/DE will just rape him like a teenaged schoolgirl. You don't want to put him there. (And we have seen him at LoS for quite some time by now. Wow.) However, Keller in space will own whoever is matched up against him; LBs will likely be slower than Keller, and DBs will be physically weaker. So it only makes sense to move him around, as in roving Y (in Coryell offense. Curiously, that IS the brand Schottenheimer ran. I just don't know what the hell Schottenheimer was doing with Keller.) At least someone else sees that... it's a good sign to say the very least.
