I understand why you want to change the discussion to what i agree with you is a more likely scenario. But if LT was correctly quoted, he did refer to attempts.

If the Jets were attempting only 15 passes a game and had a losing record, I would hope Holmes WOULD say something. Anybody would.

If the Jets threw the ball 15 times per game and Santonio got 1 to 2 TDs a game from those passes, he wouldn't say a word. It all depends on context.

Exactly. Winning too. Hopefully with Shilens and Hill going deep it will give Santonio some room to work. He was double teamed every play it seemed like last year its no wonder he was frustrated.

That might happen, once. No way teams allow that to happen on a consistent basis.

we aren't throwing 15 times a game, it will probably be around 25 times a game.

Wayne Hunter has the ability to make JAGS look like HOF'rs.

2 games a season sure. Thats why I'm hoping we use Tebow and the option a fair amount against the Bills. Don't want to depend on our pass protection.

We don't have to use Tebow, hopefully Sparano is smarter than Schotty and realizes we need to help our shitty RT in pass protection.

That was a big reason I got sick of Schotty. I was one of his few supporters but watching Hunter 1 on 1 over and over and over again getting destroyed was really frustrating. Thats why I want to see some Tebow action with a 6th OL out there. I'd also love to see Tebow line up at HB. Its a bit of a gimmick but that would definitely keep Defenses off balanced.

if the Jets are only throwing 15 times per game I'll be pissed, Sanchez will be pissed, even Tebow will be pissed, and every receiver is likely to be pissed, so singling out Holmes "possible" reaction is asinine.

I am shocked LT could get Brian Schottenheimer's cock out of his mouth long enough to say this.

Thank you. Kind of says it all about the quoted article.

As for the discusion of Hunter, the offensive line coach last year was Callahan, not Schotty. In addition I have read analyses that suggested many of Hunter's worst plays involved attempts to have people help him. THis may seem counterintuitive at first, but the thinking was that he literally had little experience at double covering a pass rusher, and would improperly place his feet, defer too much to the person assigned to help him, and would in effect defeat the purpose of giving him help. I don't have the film analysis to prove this, but fwiw, this was put out there on thejetsblog and some other places.

LT performed well for us for 2 years so that's not fair. He wasn't great running the ball last year but our OL wasn't good and he did contribute in the pass game.

15 pass attempts per game??? Sign me up. Means that they are absolutely physically dominating teams, controlling the clock and limiting the opponents possessions of which the Jets D faced more possessions than any other teams D did last year. It would mean they are dictating the pace of games with very few turnovers and the D will be fresh every game. I hope it happens. Will it happen? Probably not.

i didnt really like lt before he became a jet, but he played pretty great for us that first year. i dont really like him all that much after signing the one day contract to retire a charger, not that i think he should have retired a jet, but didnt the chargers get rid of him when he still had a few years left in the tank? he must not have liked santonio but he sounds like a bitch.

maybe im just sympathetic to holmes' frustration last year. im not saying that i agree with acting out on the field, quite the opposite. holmes gets a lot of shit because there are how many other receievers in the nfl who have never done anything like that? santonio has a lot to prove this upcoming season, but that doesnt mean he is going to behave badly or act out. as jet fans, we all better hope he gets his shit together and is a team player because he is our #1. no reason to pile on unless you really hope that he does act up and cause problems for the team. i dont know about you but i want to see us in the playoffs this year, and as far as im concerned, tone is doing all the right things to get past last years episode.

I can't see it (15 pass attempts a game) happening. However much Ryan and Sparano want to be a run-first team, the Jets really don't have the personnel to do it successfully; the OL isn't good enough and Shonn Greene doesn't make many yards on his own. They are going to have to depend upon Sanchez passing whether they want to or not.

That said, I think the same problems with Holmes will surface again if Sanchez plays as poorly as he did in 2011. This isn't about numbers. Yeah, Sanchez improved his personal numbers modestly in 2011, but those improvements didn't translate into team wins, especially down the stretch, and trouble is even more likely to brew with Tebow on the team.

Mario Williams probably isn't a dominant run defender, but he's certainly not a liability. For all the heat Anderson gets, PFF actually graded him out above average against the run with New England. Kelsay and/or Merriman could see a fair amount of snaps against run heavy teams as well, both considered strong run defenders. No two linemen on this squad played a single game together at full health (Kyle Williams played hurt for a few games and then had to call it quits), so comparing the run defense to past teams is fairly ridiculous. (not necessarily RIYD, but a couple of ppl did)

If we're only throwing 15 passes a game, we'll be dull, but we'll be winning.
