I don't think Eli is elite like some but he has a significant gap on Romo, 2 excellent postseasons culminating w/ 2 SB winning drives. Romo has a long way to catch up. I'm hilarious, on one hand you tell me I don't know what else is going on then on the other you tell me trained scouts can't tell who makes mistakes.:rofl2: keep deflecting. You know the game very well except when it comes to evaluating QBs. When does Peyton produce in the playoffs? he's great in the reg season, he'll lead his teams to DD wins every year and playoff berths but he folds in january far too often. The man has led Indy to an under .500 record in postseason. There are stat guys and there are winners, the best QBs are both. Eli has proven he can win, Romo has proven he's a stat guy. There's a significant gap btw those two.
Let's not start on Peyton Manning. You don't like him. You don't credit him for anything and blame him for everything.I get it you don't like him, but in the last 5 years played he has a 6-5 playoff record and 2 Super Bowl appearances. In the last 5 years played Brady has a 6-5 playoff record and 2 Super Bowl appearances. I don't think the gap is too big because neither guy leads his team consistently to great records. And of course media coverage. Eli didn't get much blame for the Philly comeback and Desean game winner but if that happened to a team Romo was on, Romo would get killed for it. I do agree Eli is better, but not by much. He also has a couple years starting on Romo right?
Let's set something straight here, Peyton manning is a GREAT QB, he's a HOF lock. My complaints about him have always beent hat he comes up small in big games and that canot be denied. Peyton manning in the reg season is light years ahead of Eli, if I need one QB in a big game w/ the choice of the 2 brothers w/o a doubt I choose Eli- it's not close. I want a QB to make plays in big spots in big games not to throw his OL, K or WRs under the bus every time he fails. Back to eli & Romo, they both lead their teams to similar redcords. usually in the playoff hunt if they don't make it but Eli has actually played well in postseason and helped his team win. I HATE defending Eli and the Giants, I always root for Romo and the Cowboys when they play the Giants but I have to be honest. too many people get caught up in meaningless #s(including Amani Toomer). Last year Romo threw more TDs, less INts and had a better rating but Eli outplayed him the 2 games in dec, Eli led his team to a SB. Both guys have tons of talent around them, only one of them has done anything w/ that talent.
Eli doesnt make the huge mistake. That is Romo's problem. In the Jets game they were on the 3 yard line and romo dived in to score the TD and fumbled it. Had he just taken the sack, the Cowboys coulda just kicked a FG and go up 27-17 in the 4th which would have likely put us away. Instead its 24-17, we punt it to them, and then we block the Cowboys punt. Another instance was the Lions game, those 2 games the cowboys should have won which woulda made them a 10-6 team. But I can go on, he missed the open miles austin against the Giants to win the game, the Patriots game he couldnt close it with 1 first down. IMO its bad coaching, the Jets game they shoulda told Romo, TAKE THE SACK if nothing is there. Go up 10 points!!! Then against the Lions 27-3, the Cowboys shouldnt be going for long passes.
I understand, but I knew when I posted you were going to say something about Peyton. We look at recent stuff (last 5 years) and I rank him as a playoff success. If I don't, then most QB's aren't "successful". One of them took advantage of a great D line. Like you said one took advantage of it, but the two years he took advantage of it was 9-7 and 10-6? That is why I don't have the gap as big as you. He definitely is better but ranking Qbs Eli is 5-7 range and Romo the 10-13 range for me.
In the last 5 years he has won 2 playoff games, lost to an 8-8 team in postseason plus, lost other home games and threw an INT to lose the SB. It's not as bad as his first 5 years when he couldn't win a playoff game but I wouldn't call it a smashing success either. Eli helped 9-7 & 10-6 teams win the SB, Romo had a 13-3 team in 2007 and hosted the Giants w/ a bye int he div rd and LOST. Last year Romo and Dal lost twice in the final month to the 9-7 Giants which is why the 9-7 Giants made the playoffs. based on reg season #s Romo is clearly ahead but Romo has never done anything in postseason- that seperates the two by a fairly significant margin.
It was me whom used the situational football term. There is absolutely something to be said for when you make your mistakes and what your mindset was going in to them. As Sterling Archer would say "I happen to have perfect situational awareness, Lana, which cannot be taught! Like a poet's...mind, for...to make the perfect words."
