One of my favs as well,. and incredibly underrated with our fan base. He's amazing at tracking balls and making athletic plays but you have to admit watching a RB or WR come at him in the open field is a little scary.
After the first couple of games when you was called for every penalty possible for a DB he ended up having a great year.
Anybody who DIDN'T know that Sanchez was visibly hurting by the end of the season just wasn't watching. The guy was definitely hurt, his deep ball suffered mightily (one of his best strengths) and he struggled. He's gonna come back strong, and all the haters will sllllowly step back on his bandwagon and say something to the effect of "Well, I'm happy he proved me wrong, blah blah blah"
I'm thinking this might have hurt a little bit. Seriously though, the way he was holding his arm late in the season made me think it was a pinched nerve where he was getting a lot of stingers. That kind of injury really can weaken the arm and lead to multiple interceptios to D-lineman.
Just those 5? What a wimp. Much appreciated,.. Apparently the Youtube button doesn't work? or Classic case of "You're doing it wrong"?
I told anyone that would listen last season that Sanchez played hurt in the final 5, 6 games, [thanks Hunter] still not an excuse for mental mistakes though.
I thought everyone knew Sanchez was hurt at the end of the year. Was pretty obvious watching him play. Plaxico has said a lot of dumb crap this offseason, but he has little reason to lie about this. Only thing I can think of is he wants to distance himself from being one of the anti-Sanchez people in the room last year, but it's a little late for that.
By the same token, if Sanchez was hurt it would have been nice to have an NFL backup to be able to come in. Too bad Sanchez will BE the NFL backup halfway through this year
To those with the Ravens game file on your PC: I have a question for you. I want to know if Jets ever called Max pro with 2 TEs during the game. It looks like, other than Mangold, Jets OL had to double at least 2 guys from Ravens DL. This necessitates max pro call - or that is my assumption. That should have been the base package that week, no? I am asking this because, from the Sanchez fumble clip above, I do not see TE chipping from the left. I do see Keller on the right side, but no help on the left; and Ed Reed had a free lane to Sanchez from the left side with no protection whatsoever. On a second thought; who devises these dumb fuck protection scheme anyway? Really. Sanchez looks at his left, and assumes Ed Reed is on Holmes. As it happened, it was another zone blitz, and Reed came crashing in. So, in that regard, Sanchez didn't even expect that - just what kind of blitz practice did he do all week long? Deficiency of this magnitude does not come from the athletes, I must tell you. (It's pretty similar with what's going on in the army; when the private keeps fucking things up with colossal magnitude, despite his good intentions, that means whoever trained him fucked it up royally.)
and none of that is an excuse for his poor performance. its football, everybody takes SHOTS. he has a 58.25M contract. no excuses. if he is physically unable to perform then he needs to sit down, if he's on the field he is expected to be superior ND not throw multiple INTs as he did to close out last season w/3 straight losses. Hopefully he improves and doesn't regress. And if he sucks its good to know he will be replaced w/Tebow.
