The Mets should have gone 5-1 in these last 6. After they lose, they will probably end up 3-3. Not good against 2 of the worst teams in the NL.
Murphy deprived of the game winning 2-RBI hit when the ball hits Papelbon's foot, but the Mets tie it up!
This isnt just any regular win, its huge fucking win. Pushed the Phillies farther down, Mets go farther up, great momentum swinger from 5 over to 7 over. Best 9th inning ive seen in a while, I honestly thought we were fucked after the 2nd out happened.
Collins got lucky - bunting with Thole (hitting .310 over his last 14 games) to bring up Nieuwenhuis (batting .154 in his last 13 games) was idiotic. I thought people understood by now that exchanging a base for an out is a bad decision unless the guy bunting is a MUCH worse hitter than the guy coming up afterwards.
Wheres all the naysays like Francessa saying we were a 60 win team, fucking haters, the Mets are going deep this year.
Yeah, I was yelling out loud don't bunt. Especially with Kirk up who has been Mr. Strikeout. The only thing that matter right now to me though is the fact that we won.
Interesting factoid that Wright is the only player in major league history to have walkoff hits against both Rivera and Papelbon. You would have thought an American Leaguer would be the one to do that.
I knew the Mets would win. The best fan shot of all-time also occurred in this game and because of that I will record the replay
I'm curious, why did you predict a win total that low? Did you really think the team looked that bad on paper?
Damn. I was not able to get someone to record the replay today at 2:00. I bet SNY will replay the game sometime during the offseason. For those of you who were not closely watching every second of the broadcast, after the top of the 7th ended, SNY showed Dickey walking towards the dugout. Then they went to a fan shot. I believe it was from the right field concourse area. Two fans in their 20s high-fived and in doing so one of them took a step backwards. A middle-aged dude with a drink in his hand had the terrible luck of walking by right as the one guy moved backwards. Down went the guy and the drink. Gary Cohen was laughing as SNY went to a commercial. The announcers did not mention the folly on the air, but I'm sure they discussed it during the break. It was the funniest fan folly I have ever seen. It was Three Stooges-like.
