Actually they can't because unless Howard demands less they don't really have a choice in the matter. What team other then the Nets is going to trade for a guy who refuses to sign an extension? Are the Lakers going to trade Bynum for that? Probably not although I think the Lakers could get him to resign because they actually would build the team around him. The Lakers have a huge fanbase to answer to and could not put a bunch of garbage around him.

If Nets can bring in Dwight they will be the best team in the East.

They will have an elite number 1 in Deron
Elite number 2 in Joe Johnson
Above average and a good defender Wallace as 3
And Dwight as the best 5.

Number 4 won't really matter in such a team

    Oh boy

    I am getting exicted

16 million though? I've never heard of the guy and you usually know about upcoming international stars coming into the league. Nets owner prob has a great deal of insight on these players

Houston is willing to rent him with no assurances of him signing and can top that offer. Golden State has said the same thing. Or if you're Orlando, you wait it out and see what happens in the summer. Brooklyn has a very slim chance of being able to sign him next summer so he'd have to go somewhere else as a free agent.

What teams say and what they do are two different things, Golden State does need to do something though as they are going to be moving across the bay and will need to make a splash to be succesful. Houston would have a mutiny on their hands if they traded for him and he walked.

Brooklyn signing and trading for Reggie Evans from LAC. This makes no sense to me.

3 million for three years and we get a good defensive threat! What is there not to understand about this?

Doesn't he have the same agent as Dwight Howard? Also, Evans is a useful player. The Nets could use useful players.

If they got Joe Johnson, Dwight, and Deron they are without question better than the Heat.

Lebrons still the best player, but then its probably Deron, Dwight, JJ, Dwade Bosh.

Not to mention the Nets would have a true pg and big man, while the heat have neither.

Of course without Dwight i dunno.

I mean Wallace Humpfries JJ Lopez Deron is still an absolutely fricken awesome starting 5. Then guys like Marshawn Brooks off the bench, that aint too shabby

^The prospective trade to get Howard:

The Nets and the Magic are discussing a trade that would send Howard to Brooklyn for Brook Lopez, Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks and the Nets' first-round draft picks in 2013, 2015 and 2017, sources said. Lopez and Humphries, who are both free agents, would go to Orlando in sign-and-trade deals.

It will be the 3 of em and a bunch of bums...

That's how I described my team but our bums are Rio/Cole/Haslem/Battier/Miller which the Nets really don't have anyone comparable if they make the trade to get Howard...

The team's best bet is to not make the trade and ride it out with the lineup you mention...It's alright to make a 6-8 playoff spot and get bounced in the 1st round...

Do you Nets fans really think Joe Johnson is a great player?

He is so overrated...I think his contract's size is making people think he is great...
