Dickey is simply pitching at a level that is scary at this point , like Soxx says if the back end of rotation Young and Gee can hold their own and we get some bullpen help we are a play off team Jesus I didnt think I would have said that in March.. Wright will get his payday which he fully deserves..
Dickey is now 12-1 and with Cain sucking last night, Dickey's gotta be in the lead for starting the All Star Game.
He is such a great person also, his book is a great read. Its nice to have a normal guy being a main story instead of some of the sleazeballs we see dominating the headlines
I like baseball when my team is winning. Im not gunna lie, I lost ALL interest in baseball in 2009 to 2010. The Jets stole my heart and I rememberit being so bad that I didnt even know which teams were in the playoffs or anything. Back in 2005 I was a fanatic, back then we didnt have cable tv in our house so I remember going to get the paper every morning to find out who won and everything. Those were the fun days.
How nice is it to have Dickey & Santana? What do you guys think? Are they the best one-two pitching tandem in baseball right now?
Im silently confident about this team, usually I run my mouth but im not saying a word to anyone I kno. I stand here today honestly thinking that this team is capable of winning a World Series. The way the playoffs have played out recently, its all about just being in the playoffs. Best record hasnt mean shit for a couple years now.
You can make a solid argument that they are. If not them, then Cain and Bumgarner. I think Strasburg and Gonzalez are 3rd. Strasburg couldn't take the heat today and he has that whole innings limit thing too.
You have to wonder what the Nats do should they find themselves needing Strasburg in late September but he can't throw because of the innings thing or what if they make the playoffs?
Francesser is wrong a lot Last week Francesser said da Nats ahh gonna shut him down no matta what. Therefore, Strasburg will pitch down the stretch if the Nationals stay in the race. 160 innings limit be damned.
If Santana and Dickey pitch well, and the Mets make the playoffs (which in order to do so Santana and Dickey would have to be pitching well), they will win the WS.
Yeah a lot of Baseball to be played but a good feeling about this team right now. I broke down and bought the MLB.com package just so I could watch last nights game. I figure I used to spend about $1000 a season going back and forth to Shea, so what's $80!?!?
this team shows what can be done with good man management , locker room unity and a solid rotation. Not enough emphasis is , imo, put on the work done during spring training to get this team bonding..they have each others backs and there is seemingly a great affinity between them. Suddenly my trip over is looking positive!!!
I agree with these sentiments, but talent still trumps all. They need all of the season-long good (Dickey, Santana, Wright) to keep happening, the rest of the rotation to stay solid, Davis to have a second half like the past 2 weeks, Murphy to have a second half like the last week, the role players to play their roles. And even with all that, they need the bullpen to improve dramatically, either by trade or by miraculous improvement. It's a lot to ask for, but anyone who claims they knew they'd be in this position in July is a liar, so in many ways it's all gravy at this point.
can't believe he got caught. Oh well. Reyes was well out of it, by the way. A bit surprising considering he's such a big name, even though he plays for Miami. He's not having a good season, so he wasn't getting the performance votes (although not many vote based on performance). .271 BA, .346 OBP, 18 steals, only 19 RBI in 76 games.
watching the marlins game. They said 20 minutes ago they'd say on the broadcast as the results leaked out. What have they said? That Stanton made it as a reserve. I guess they meant they'll only mention it if a Marlin makes the team
