^ Because he got a nice offer to sign with the Cubs. So apparently Daniel Murphy can only hit home runs when the wind is blowing out hard at Wrigley Field. He had the most plate appearances without a homer this year of any major leaguer, and his last homer was July 16, 2011. But today he hit homers in consecutive innings.
good job by Young , he has been another pleasant surprise coming back off more shoulder surgery.. 3.5 games back....this season has been one hell of a shock!!
With a knuckleball pitcher you know it isn't that he was tipping his pitches, so presumably his knuckler just wasn't knuckling that night. Murphy hits another HR and Tejada with his fourth hit drives in the 9th run. Bizarre, but leave some for tomorrow, boys.
That's gotta be it. I mean, he's gonna have three 1-hitters in 4 starts (where in two of them the hit was not a good one). It's just too bad the one bad start was against the Yankees.
If Chris Young can pitch at a high level this team is deadly. If the Mets can do this for one more month and get into august in a playoff position as they are today, then the buzz will be very high on this team.
