http://www.ganggreennation.com/2012/6/29/3126367/is-rex-ryan-really-on-the-hot-seat I don't think he has anything to worry about this year, unless we fall apart again. If we don't make the playoffs, or show a vast improvement, next year he may be out. I like him as a coach, but he needs to get the offense working and the defense needs to be #1 again. With a #1 defense and a average season, he could buy himself 2 more years even without making the playoffs.
if we go 2-14 (without suffering a billion injuries) he should be fine. and we aren't winning only two games, the defense is too talented for that to happen, regardless of what goes on offensively.
no way. last year was a strike shortened offseason so thats a pass with the personnel if we fail to make the playoffs this year, then its on the hot seat.
Yea no matter what happens Rex is safe this season. If he fails horribly next year he will be on the hot seat. I can't see us not improving this season. Sanchez should do better and our defense should be a bit better on top of a not too difficult schedule. Can't wait for week 1
I don't think he is on the hot seat yet. If we miss play offs again then we can talk about hot seat for next year.
If the team implodes, the drama goes off the charts, and the locker-room disintergrates... Hell yeah his head is going to roll. Other than that, I think his job is pretty secure.
Rex is the best coach the Jets have had in decades. If he's on the hot seat due to one 8-8 season then that's bullshit.
He's under no pressure. In 2013 season we host the Super Bowl so no matter what happens, we arent going into that season starting over, we will be going in with Rex.
No. He shouldn't even be mentioned. We went 9-7, 11-5, and 8-8 under him. Going 4-12 would bring him back to a .500 record not including playoffs and still the last 4 years would be some of the most successful in franchise history. With Rex you have a defense. We find a QB or the current one keeps on improving we will consistently have a playoff team.
We had a great draft this year I think. If it is what we think it is, then we can build upon it. A great draft alone will buy Rex a couple of years.
This stat from the article surprised me some. .....and only five teams still have the same head coach now as they did in 2006. That is some serious turnover.
Best coach in the last God knows how many years for the Jets has nothing to worry about. This article means nothing.
If Mangini got three years, than Rex, with two AFC championship game appearances, deserves at least five seasons before he's under the gun.
