how is it an either/or? it can easily be both. the touchdown>commercial>PAT>commerical>kickoff>commercial sequence alleycat talked about doesn't get on anyone else's nerves?
only bad thing is people that get done watching an early game might get distracted in those extra ten minutes and might not remember that there's another game on.
Anybody remember when the Baltimore Colts would kick off at 2:00 for early games and 3:00 for late games? Usually in the early part of the season. I'm going back quite a few years...the old timers would remember. I remember as a kid wondering why they did this when every other team kicked off at 1 or 4.....
It's terribly annoying but it's not like they are going to play 10 extra minutes of just non-stop commercials. If anything those later games are going to have 10 extra minutes of pre-game BS and, to be honest, I'd prefer 10 minutes of just non-stop commercials.
Well, now the 4:25 games will end around 7:30. That means less time between The 4:25 game and Sunday Night Football.
I'm sure they will be now there is a better chance a game that runs long can spill past 8PM, that wasn't happening w/ a 4, 4:05 or 4:15 start. Maybe I am overreacting but I still don't like the trend of starting later and later every few years.
Imagine if Kraft gets his way and a team gets put out in London, England? They are five hours ahead so that would throw everything completely off!
It's only the double header games though, not the single 4:05 games. I think there is only one doubleheader per week anyway, so only one game is being bumped
Yeah, even if a 4:25 game goes into overtime, there is a pretty decent chance it ends before SNF kickoff.
I love this. this allows me and my crew to smoke at 4:20 and then come inside 5 minutes later and enjoy the start of the 4:25 games. good move NFL.
I like these ideas better than moving the games back... but since the networks, who pay ridiculous amounts of money for the rights to air these games will never give in to lessening their revenue, I'll take a 10 minute wait so I can watch the end of a really good game.
your absolutely right, its not going to happen. they already got those advertising spots how ever many years ago. this is just a reaction to the games running longer which is happening in large part because there is more advertising than ever before. the pass happy nfl doesnt help with the clock stoppages either but its more the advertising annoyance that i worry about. so many people just like or dislike something for their own short term ecstasy instead of thinking about it a little deeper. i dont like it, i know theres nothing i can do about it but i am not going to just sheepishly accept it as something good when i know the reasoning behind it.
I think it's a good move. It's not like they're pushing it back by a half hour (yet), and if we enjoy football we can't complain about commercials... they pay the bills.
