Rich Eisen @richeisen Start times on late afternoon games for FOX/CBS dheaders pushed to 4:25PM. Fewer pissed off fans being switched from just-ending early games Rich Eisen @richeisen Chill, @CBOD14. The league DID chart games. Over past 3 years, new late start time would have reduced number of switch-aways by 66 percent. @Ourand_SBJ NFL is moving its 4:15pm Sunday kickoffs to 4:25pm to reduce overlap with the 1pm games. I didn't like when CBS or FOX had to switch from a close "due to contractual obligations". This is good I guess, only 10 minutes later.
They should've done this years ago. I guess they're keeping the 4:05 games at 4:05? SNF starts at 8:15 so no risk there. NBC will just lose viewers for the beginning of the pregame show, that's all.
"Afternoon games that are not a part of televised doubleheader will still kickoff at 4:05 p.m." http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/20...tml?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed
it's so stupid, it's being pushed further and further back. Soon we'll have 4 PM games and 8 PM games.
It's being pushed back so that when a 1:00 game goes past 4:15 you have a better chance of watching either the end of the 1:00 game and not miss the beginning of game 2 in a double header. It's a good move.
If this means they don't cut away from an awesome game with 5 minutes left in overtime than hell yes!
That's the reason they give us but that's not the reason. It's going to keep getting later and they'll keep adding commercial time. W/in a few years they'll string those 1PM games out where the average one will be ending around 4:25 then they'll start them at 4:35 and then 5PM,...
I like a good old-fashioned slippery slope argument as much as the next guy but come on...it's 10 minutes and it's to prevent people from missing the end of the earlier games. How you can be so upset about this is completely absurd.
For real. Don't bitch for the sake of bitching. It's just to prevent from having the end of the early and beginning of the late from overlappying. No tin foil cap needed for this "conspiracy"
I like this change, to many times have I missed the start of games because the first game was going on. And I remember once last season I missed the end of a game that was a 4 point game with a team in a 2 minute drive because the 2nd game had to start.
It's 10 mins today, another 10 a few years from now. It's not long ago that they started at 4PM in less than a decade that's a 25 min difference. That's a big deal if you go to those games.
I think the sport will survive this catastrophic decision which clearly alters the very fabric of the known universe.
im with unc on this one. how about we dont have a commercial after the touchdown, then the extra point and another commercial, then a commercial after the kickoff? how about that to keep the games on time? i mean its 4 or 5 minutes of commercials to play 2 plays in the game. what will eventually happen is they will sell the games on tv and we will all have to pay for them individually or as a package.
So either junc is right and this is a massive conspiracy being brewed by the NFL to generate additional advertising revenue (despite the fact that we're talking merely about a difference of 10 minutes) or The NFL is giving the fans something that they want so that they don't get plasted with complaints about two games overlapping at the same time Hmmmm.... I'm not a Rhodes Scholar by any means but it looks like Tin Foil Hat Boy is wrong on this one
