i am really exited about this kid.i hope he can be part of the answer to defending the t.e. this year and be readt for a starting role in 2013
Yea if Davis is anything he is fast. I really liked the pick. Him and Mayhem will finally add some speed to our LBs. 4-3 with Davis, Harris, Maybin going forward looks real nice. Everything I have heard about our top 3 picks I have liked a lot so far.
I would not be surprised at all if this guy is starting by the end of the season, one way or another. Great pick
I wouldn't be surprised if he is playing the majority of downs coming out of camp. The Jets only have 3 LB's right now that can play both ways in Harris, Pace and Thomas. One of them is 33 and coming off an injury, and another is likely to wind up playing a lot at 4-3 DE in those looks. Even with Davis a rookie there is a very good chance he's the best option as the third linebacker. He won't start a lot of games because Rex is going to let Bart Scott go out with grace and Scott will be starting most of the games but I highly doubt Scott gets as many snaps as Davis.
LBs are smaller in a 4-3 than a 3-4 so why not exactly? Also I was talking about the future more than this season. Scott and Thomas are still here and will see playing time.
The one thing Aaron Maybin does well is to speed rush. He really has no other NFL-caliber skills. That's why he blew out in Buffalo. His other skills were so weak he couldn't stay on the field and the Bills weren't setup to employ their 1st round pick for 200 snaps on the year just so he could speed rush. Maybin looked much better last year than he actually is because Rex and Pettine used him in a way that masked his flaws some and accentuated the one thing he does well. I expect him to be out of the NFL in a year or two. The Jets are developing two-way assets that can apply pressure on the QB now and there's no room for a guy who just rushes the passer once they have those assets in place.
Hey,this guy may just be the best thing since sliced bread.... but Rex spews positive stuff about every player.
He's learning to be a 3 down player. If he can achieve that he will survive on the NFL. He's got the motor. Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk 2
The most positive thing from this article, is that the most respected/best player on defense has recognized Davis as a leader ALREADY, without camp even starting. Im sure if he’s gained Revis’ recognition as a leader, he’s done so with many of the other defensive players.
I'm not telling you or anyone to disregard anything. There is nothing wrong with being optimistic... I just find it amusing that people start making these big prognostications on stuff that is said about players in non-contact spring practice. Especially by Rex, who fields virtually an all-star team if you believe every soundbite. I think the Jets have 3 rookies with big upsides in Hill, Coples, and Davis. But until the season (or at least pre-season) ther's no way to tell how quickly they'll be ready to help this year.
Learn to read. I said I found it amusing. And I'll make a note that Revis is your daddy is the spokesman for "everyone".
I agree. Rex does hype everyone up. But Revis is very well known for calling it how it is. Good or bad. He doesn't rant without reason. Everything I've heard that man say has been off of facts and can be backed up. If Rex was saying this about Davis, to me personally, it would mean quite a bit less then Revis saying it. And Revis giving Davis credit and calling him a stand out is what this article was about. The man has high standards and expectations. For him to say something like this. He must see sonething in Davis that he doesnt in others. So yeah, I personally trust/believe what Revis says. He hasn't let me down yet, or the Jets and its fans down yet,I doubt hell put his name in the mix if he was gonna lose the people's trust over a rookie that stands out. He could have went the safe route and named a proven veteran as a stand out but he chose a rookie. Anyway. That's my way of looking at it. You fellas can see it any way you want. It's your opinion
