I actually agreed with Holmes last year. The O sucked as a whole, couldn't throw, couldn't run, couldn't block, couldn't catch. There was nothing on offense anyone on that team should have been happy with.

If Plax still had a gun, he'd of shot himself again to get off the field last season.

Yea our O line was scary bad last year and when Mark fell apart down the stretch we looked awful. Holmes didn't help at all either but there wasn't much he could do. I don't blame him for getting frustrated. I blame him for acting like a little bitch about it though.

This exactly. I couldn't believe he acted like such a bitch right on the field that the players were yelling at him and the Jets had to sit him. I get the frustration, but be a professional.

Funny, I add nothing because I recommended you look at Holmes body language as an indicator to his mood? He is not a true team player who can calmly and rationally (much like you) articulate what he is seeing/feeling on the field. He has to (like you again) throw a temper tantrum, sulk, or fly like a jet to show emotion and gain attention.

The media has not shoved this down my throat as you suggested, I have seen this with my own two eyes. If you are having a hard time grasping this concept then I don’t know what to say bud.

While a talented receiver, Holmes has been a consistent distraction wherever he has played (Ohio State, Steelers, and now the Jets). I don’t see this changing and I don’t like it. To that end, I say Fuck you Santonio, fuck you in the ASS

If I had an emoticon for throwing a temper tantrum, I would post it.

And I don't do emoticons. But I'd make an exception. It would be so... fitting.

With Schotty gone, I'm pretty sure they won't struggle much getting Holmes the ball. If you pay a WR that much money, he should be utilized in a large portion of your plays. Last year he was not, despite the line woes and lack of deep threat. Sparano will use Holmes properly.

How could you know this? It's possible Holmes was the #1 option on alot of plays that Sanchez checked down to other receivers on.

Maybe Sparano will be a great OC, but how do you know he will use Holmes right? Where is the past greatness of Sporano that makes people so sure he'll do great things?

That's my concern. Believe me, nobody is happier than me to see Shotty go. That being said, he was replaced by a guy with no OC experience and a spotty HC record at best. There is no guarantee he comes in and improves anything.

I think he will, but I'm basing that on how poor Shotty was only.

I said this at the time and even debated D-Wood about it - What Holmes said was what any analyst would say about the Jets at the time - it was 110% factual and the main reason the Jets sucked - The front office was a major reason for this for not having proper backups and the injuries didn't help....

Holmes problem above all else is he doesn't communicate it the best way which is perfectly media and fan friendly.... waaaaaaaaaaaah.

It's semantics - Guy knew the problem, we ALL knew the problem but, it's taboo for him to tell the truth..... He feels he should say what he feels with mics in his face - that's why he avoids the media now.

Moore overreacted and could have been the bigger man and discussed this with Tone behind the scenes but, he decided to reply back thru the media.....

Tone's biggest failure is in communication - I offered to help him out in PR.

Tone is nothing more or less than most Ego driven Star, Diva WR's in the NFL.....

I think if Tone was anything like Cimini and some fans truly believe he is they would eat the money regardless and move on no matter how cap crippling it would be - BUT NOOOOO, we see a guy who is out there working with the young WR"s, a guy doing charity and meeting the troops, and a real good talent who will no doubt be ready to go... oh yeah, and a guy who sees in Schottenheimer what 98% of us here all saw and is looking forward to a new offense, as we all are....

So, many REAL d-bags in this league who beat women, do no charity, show up out of shape to real camp, on and on and people are really going to ride this train?

    It's just another Diva WR.

I've always said, if we had the media scrutiny years ago we have today that Jerry Rice image would be much different ciz, I saw a lot of Rice and I saw a lot of crying and wanting the ball. Great WR's want the ball on every play and sometimes say the wrong thing - Rice did, no one analyzed every word or tear though back then.

  14. Fantastic post & this has been my opinion for a long time. That isn't to say that Holmes is a choir boy..but rather..you can't believe everything the media says about him. His biggest problem is he oftens speaks his mind free of sugarcoating & never apologizes/clarifies after the fact. With the way the media is right now combined w/ the chicken little's of this fan base..that is a recipe for alot of misconceptions regarding his image.

It is not what he said but how he acted. He quit on the team in the Miami game and in a very public fashion. I am willing to set that aside and give him another chance but it was the Miami game that put most fans off.

  16. Understandable. And odds are he has some wrongdoing ion that situation..but we don't know exactly what happened. The truth has never come out. I actually blame Sanchez more b/c he showed absolutely no fire that day when he needed to get everyone to focus.

I'm just not sure how we can truly come to the conclussion that Holmes quit or whatever else..without knowing the full extent.

I blame Sanchez too bc he is the quarterback, thus the captain of the offense. He should be the leader and heartbeat of the huddle. He should have absolute control and understand the feeling and mindset of every player in that huddle.

Rex fucked up by naming shit bird holmes captain. Holmes is the definition of an individual. He only gives a fuck about #1. He is no captain and should never have the "C" pinned on his chest. When the going gets bad, Holmes makes it worse.

Obviously I don't know the future, but Sparano has specifically talked about playing to the team's strengths. If a play is successful you will see it more often. With Schotty it was the opposite.

^playing to the teams strengths would mean running the football and utilizing play-action pass with two very young and mobile quarterbacks. I expect Tebow to be used primarily as a running back. Playing to the teams strengths would be keeping control of the clock so that our defense can get rest.

Holmes is not the strength of the New York Jets. He is not a production receiver. He is a one trick receiver with a flashy catch near the red zone, possibly the only time he is motivated to make a play. All the money we gave Holmes should have been used to secure Revis. Revis is a player that plays balls to the wall on every down.

The strength of the New York Jets is our defense. We must chip away, play a game of field position and control time of possession.
