It gives the NYJETS security in case Holmes has another meltdown.

I still remember him burnin Revis. Hes good, he was Tebows MAIN reciever both championship years in Florida. If the Jets did make a move, it would be because he has a good connection with Tebow.

So they wont acquire him because he improves the team only because of the Tebow connection.

He was Tebows main reciever. If he is brought in, I feel its more evidence the Jets plan on starting Tim Tebow. And TBH, the more I think about it, I think the Jets will trade a 4th or a 5th for Percy.

I dont think Tebow being here as any bearing on if they decide to go after Harvin. They need a punt returner and could certainly use a WR of his calibre when hes healthy.

This is the perfect opportunity for Tanne to really improve this team.

isn't his contract about up?which means he is looking to get paid.we are already paying santonio so the $ he wants would have us paying 2 wr big money.it would be nice but i don't think its feasible under the cap

Well lets see if the Vikings will trade him, if they want to do it, then the Jets need to pursue him hard.

Santonio needs to restructure and I have feeling there might be a few cuts before all is said and done.

    As per ROTOWORLD

Percy Harvin has requested a trade from the Vikings, sources tell the Associated Press.
Harvin is scheduled to earn just $2.47 million in base salary over the next two seasons. He's also clashed with the coaches over playing time as he saw just 58 percent of the offensive snaps in 2011. Still, the Vikings are highly unlikely to grant a trade request even if Harvin follows through on his holdout threats. They'd never get equal value for one of the game's most versatile and explosive players. Suspended Jerome Simpson, Michael Jenkins and Devin Aromashodu are behind Harvin on the depth chart.

He's a good player but he can't stay healthy. I'd rather see the Jets invest in o-line at this point.

Percy Harvin's trade request is not tied to contractual issues from what I'm hearing. He'd like to move on, but Vikes lack weapons as it is

Sounds to me like he just doesn't want to play on a crappy team.

Great news but he did have alot of injuries in college and also with vikings......I wonder if those migrains were fake cause he hated it there and was on a shitty team??

Holmes for him straight up would be good get rid of that salary but than I honestly think we would need edwards here!! Harvin wants more money that is why he wants to leave and also he hate a shitty team......I would love him here but similar to holmes so will be interesting.

This is not a bad idea. Clears out a locker room problem before it can manifest again and replaces a heavy cap hit the next two years with a more manageable one.

Not sure the Vikings would go for it but they might. They still have a huge amount of cap room open for 2012.

Edit: Not sure on the trade potential in terms of the cap hit. NYJetsCap has him at $20.25 million in dead money if cut but that includes the guarantees of $7.75M this year and $11M next. If the Vikings take him in trade it looks like we only take about a $1.5M hit this year and then he's off the cap.

Agreed. The Jets have already acquired a few guys who have trouble staying on the field. Sure up the O-line.

Probably unlikely, Though can't say I'd be against this. The health issue should not be a concern since we essentially have a serviceable group of starters without him. This would allow S. Hill time to grow into the role and slowly learn the game and not force him into the spotlight. Making the move now, rather then waiting to see how things shake out. WOuld be a HUGE benefit to our offensive cohesion ( see D. Mason ).

If Tanny can work it out though,...

    Holmes, Kerley -- Hill, Harvin

Damn, I Wouldn't mind that as our 4 wide sets after punching defenses in the mouth all game. Not to mention this really gives us more wiggle room with Holmes to trade, cut, or bench - i know eating the $$ would be unadvisable but... if he really does prove incapable of shaping up.

I'm not a salary cap guy at all, but if the Jets traded Holmes, don't they take a big cap hit because they would still be on the hook for his guaranteed money? Something like that?

rotoworld report is interesting.if it is not about $ then he has a reasonable cap figure for the next 2 years.i dont think trading holmes straight up is an option due to accelrated bonus figures.maybe kerley and a draft pick, since percy would be the slot guy anyway.
not holding my breathe on this one but it is something to watch and talk about during the slow time of year
