GMC, Im a Edwards supporter and understand your arguments...but you are taking the pharase "man crush" to a new level
because White has a reasonably small chance of making the roster. Braylon if signed would be counted on to be a significant contributor for us. If White gets hurt, nothing would really be lost. Thats why nobody really talks about Whites knees, but they do care about Braylons.
Man crush? Because I want the best players possible on this team who will help us win a Super Bowl? The hate for Braylon Edwards is quite evident. Time will tell to see how this WR corps turns out.
The point is that no one really gives a shit about Jordan White. Kind of like no one should really give a shit about Braylon at this point. BTW, Braylon wasn't going to come here an play special teams like a 7th round rookie would be expected to do.
GMC, What is so difficult to comprehend about this? What is so complex about the idea that 32 teams have shown no interest in him? Just because a player is appealing to fans doesn't mean he is appealing to teams. It's called being able to look at things from another's perspective, psychological research indicates most children develop that skill well before 10 years of age.
The same can be said for Tebow if thats your logic and 15 other teams passed on Coples. I dont give a damn what other teams do. Lets see if the rookies make an impact here like Braylon Edwards did in 2009-2010.
I'm not saying Braylon Edwards is great. I'm simply defending his performance as a Jet against those here who like to bash him as if he was a JAG. Using his time as a Jet and his performance last season in SF, when everyone knows he was injured, as reasons not to bring him back. If you don't like him as a person, that's fine. I can't argue with that. But I can defend his performances on the field.
That's the problem here. His performance on the field was good, not great. Great players get away with being a distraction, for a short time, because they are great. Good players need to not cause problems off the field. He was a decent deep threat and good blocking receiver, but the FO replaced him in this role with hill. They added depth in that role with Schillens. There is no need to go after a so-so diva coming off multiple injuries. This is not 09-10.
First of all I don't know what you mean about Tebow, I don't particularly want him on the team, and Tebow had trade suitors within a day or two of the Broncos announcing he was on the block. Second, with Coples, there were other players better to chose from for those first 15 teams, like Luck, RG3, etc; he still went in the first half of the first round of the NFL draft... so I really don't get your point. No one on this thread has made any claim to dislike Braylon, they are just saying that the Jets don't want him for reasons that are both obvious and not obvious. You are talking around the fact that you are pretty much straight up wrong about this whole thing.
Your right, it must be a personality issue that goes beyond what is just publicized, but he always seemed like such a hard nosed player who gave a ton of effort on the field. As for him being gay, it would be absurd for him not to get a job for that fact even if it was true, but some people are still pretty medieval I suppose.
This is why I don't buy into the injury aspect of it, it has to be something with his personality, although as I stated in a previous post, I always thought he gave 100% on the field.
White is listed as a WR but he's going to be a special teams player. Edwards > White @ WR is meaningless because White isn't going to contribute @ that position if he makes the team. Jets need a punt returner so badly they actually used a draft pick on it. Without Leonard, Jets had nobody on their roster last season who can reliably pull off a fair catch. White has good hands & can pull off a fair catch in a monsoon. If White makes the roster, his role will be to catch punts & return 5+ yards without fumbling. If White takes plays WR, he'll be the #4 or #5 guy. Also, White is on the 7th round pick contract which makes him really cheap. 4-years @ 2M. Edwards is not gonna sign a contract like that.
Are there any reports out there that say hes still injured and to what extent his knee was injured. Thanks Amusing how a moderator changed the thread title.
Hate to Break it to ya , but Braylon will not be a Jet! The roster is over flowing with receivers ; of which probably less then half make it on the team. The Jets organization would only offer him Vet Minimum because that's the the culture that exists under Tannenbaum. Braylon was a terrific player for us and will be remembered , but now its time to pick up the pieces of your shattered dream and move on! Hey, Hills looking good and maybe he's the new Braylon??? Huh Huh Yeahhhh! :breakdance:
Percy Harvin wants out in Minnesota. When he is healthy, which is not very often, he would be a deep threat, like Braylon. But much like what everyone else here is saying, the Jets seem content with the WR corps that they have assembled...
Its because of threads like this that i've only posted >500 times since joining...all I have to do is read and laugh.
