It was either the BCS title game or an important bowl game where Colt got hurt and the story was he went into the lockerroom and tried to throw the ball to his Dad across the locker room and he couldn't do it.

Ever since that I was hoping he would have some success in the NFL. I think he could be a solid backup right now.

I hope he finds success as well. I'll be curious to see what team gives him a shot.

Brandon Weeden will be 29 in October. Interesting experiment by the Browns.

Not worth giving up a pick for a third stringer.

I think McCoy would be an upgrade over McElroy, but McCoy is probably looking for at least a #2 gig.

I feel bad for the way McCoy was treated by Mangini with the whole hide the playbook thing and not letting coaches talk with him but I don't see it. If the FO was interested in bringing in a guy to compete with Sanchez they would have signed Henne, Orton or Campbell. Instead they signed a guy who is likley only a goal line/wildcat QB and not a threat to Sanchez. If we added McCoy we would have have 3 2nd/3rd string QBs plus McElroy. McCoy may be a tough kid but I just don't see him being a substantial upgrade over Sanchez that other journeyman QBs we could have signed would have been.

In essence McCoy looks like a tougher less experienced version of Sanchez. Both inaccurate, turnover prone, game managers with not a lot of upside. Much better to have your own bad player than go with some other teams bad player. I would rather have McElroy in the long run that McCoy as he he simply has more upside because we have not seen him play yet. The only advantage to McCoy is if Sanchez plays as poorly as he has the last 3 years McCoy would be a much more viable mid season replacement option than Tebow or McElroy But it seems like such a drastic change in philosophy and kind of late to go there now. I would not want to imagine the circus media reaction bringing in another Qb after the Tebow reaction. Sanchez has enough confidence problems to begin with he does not need anymore distractions. Like him or not he is our QB this year and we have to ride with him.

    no

we don't need another number 3

and he doesn't want to be a number 3

Some team with a need for a number 2 that won't destroy your season should he have to play would be a better fit IMO

Why give up assets for McCoy? McElroy proved he could hold his own in this league until he got injured. No need to let go of depth picks in next year's draft, which we desperately need.

He wants to start, and unless he can beat out both guys (Nacho & Tebow) I doubt he would start with us.

You sure McElroy has proven he could hold his own in this league ?

Cuz according to nfl.com, hes never done anything EVER in an nfl game.

Dont get me wrong, I like McElroy as far as a #3 qb is concerned, and see no need to trade for ANOTHER backup qb this offseason, especially one who would be a better fit in a west coast offense.

But lets not pretend preseason heros are proven either.

Free agent camp competition... sure why not. Trade for a draft pick? Been there, done that. No thanks.
