"The regular Americans" hahahhaha. I havea job and cannot continue this conversation. All IM saying is your saying that no one in America cares about soccer is ridiculous. Even the regular ones are interested

Yes, because clearly the WNBA is comparable to the most popular sport in the world.

You really have a hard time differentiating between what's happening between your ears and what's happening in the rest of the universe, huh? "I don't like it," becomes "It surely sucks," in your world.

I still don't think you believe your own bullshit. I think you just get off on it.

Literally no one? of course not, there are always some loons who have nothing better to dot han watch a ball get kicked back and forth for an hour and a half but in realtion to popular sports in this Country no on cares.

Most popular sport in the world, one of the least popular sports in this Country. I don't care what they like in Europe.

not abc vs. CBS, what other ratongs do we include multiple networks? 2012 beat the WC and 2010 doubled the WC Final.

they wouldn't have been able to understand the announcers.

Those are soccer regulars, the real # is the ABC # which CBS blew away in 2012 and even w/ the combined # CBS doubled the ratings in 2010.

Anyway, my guess is ratings for olympic sports would rival the NCAA Title game too. People love big International events.

    haha.

You have to compare apples to apples, ABC vs. CBS. The basketball game won and again if you compare the '10 title game to the '10 WC the basketball game doubled the ratings even including the millions of illegal mexicans watching on univision:grin:.

I'm kinda curious now about this whole ratings thing.

We need to reduce the numbers after we take out all those black convicted felons that watched the NCAA title game

only "real" americans count. Those ones off the slave ships, fuck em

Soccer is the most popular sports in the world. In America not so much since the MLS is a bad league compared to most of the European and South American leagues.

There are tons of Americans who like soccer and to be honest the USA team isn't even very good yet. So many Americans tuned in for USA vs Algeria and went crazy last WC when Donovan scored. There is a reason ESPN picks up soccer games and shows them on ESPN not 2, classic or news. They now have the Euro rights, World Cup rights, and some EPL rights. There is a demand from America for some very good soccer, something unfortunately the MLS cannot provide right now

That was a cool moment when Donovan scored that goal but again that was the WC.

ESPN shows soccer isnetad of re-reuns of 1st take, they aren't bumping any quality programming off the air for it.

Soccer has taken some steps forward w/o a doubt but it still has a long way to go. Right now on a popularity scale it falls somewhere btw the WNBA and hockey.

I love tweaking the soccer fans on here, I was hoping for shade to pop in but it didn't happen.

Not really, they bumped a lot of programming because as stated they are showing on ESPN and two matches a day for pool play. And ESPN doesn't have quality programming in general, its highlight and debates currently since 30/30 isn't showing.

Popularity wise you obviously have the big 3 of sports and then probably soccer and hockey a step below. Then the rest of the sports.

It's funny because hockey is a sport that fits America perfectly, you have scoring, fast paced, not a lot of commercial breaks, hitting, and cinderella runs but nobody wants to tune it. It even has actual fighting. If America isn't the best at the sport or have the best player, American's don't tune in. That seems to be the correlation.

I agree w/ that, our best tahletes play football, baseball and basketball but I disagree about soccer and hockey a step below. hockey is probably 3 steps below and soccer about 10. Soccer isn't anywhere near the big 3.

I said step below because there is no sports IMO inbetween the big 3 and hockey and soccer. Tennis, golf, horse racing, nascar, lacrosse, arena football, etc all fall below those two.

I am an avid, avid hockey fan. Have been all my life. Played all my life until 6 years ago when my knee exploded..Im 40 in 9 days by the way. That said, soccer, country-wide, is more popular than hockey
