Yeah, it was a great team. The next year was painful watching them lose to KC. All those incomplete passes to Maynard...

And all the injuries to follow. Philbin, Elliot, Atkinson, Woodall, Snell, Boozer- oh, and a fella named Namath. Talk about a team falling apart quickly! I believe they had the third- worst record in the '70s, behind New Orleans and the Giants. A tough decade for any Jets fan. I think the Lou Holtz year was the worst of the lot, on a par with the Kotite years. It was Namath's last season with the team, and he should've retired instead of going to the Rams. He was finished.

he's not the least bitter and resentful...he's accurate and tells it like it is...what exactly was he wrong about last year? he was on target about ur o-line, ur teams lack of offensive identity, rex's mouth and teams cockiness being their undoing by not respecting their opponents, disagreed with tt move after telling sanchez job was his...he's been on since the beginning and jets fans dont wanna hear it

yeah like joe friggin namath needs to "create interest" in new york during football season...this statement is even more stupid than ur nonsense about him being bitter...namath criticizes the jets BECAUSE he wants them to succeed...sad fans like u cant see this

Sorry he not even close to one of the greatest. He one of the most overrated players of all time. It was a great thing he did.

Nah for the 69 season Hess went cheap he had thrown out Wberlin & now controlled the team in & he instructed Ewbank to cut costs. If you had not get a book called the Gang Green by the then NY Times beat writer. One of the 1st to depart because they would not give him a raise was the OLman we got from Houston the year before who some said was the reason the 68 season was what it was. The rest is history since Hess was only interested in the bottom line & not winning

You just do not like what he says because he points out what he sees what is wrong with the NYJs so that maybe somebody will listen & improve to real championship caliber team

I was at that game so I cannot remember if it was blacked out or not

I have the newspapers somewhere in my house & if I find them I will send you a PM & u can PM me back with your address so I can send them to U

I have no other favorite game since every game played after SB3 meant nothing.

He was creating interest in his radio spot and himself, not football. Take the blinders off, this was about Joe trying to cash in, not about being honest and caring about the Jets. HE sold his soul in 69 and again 2011.

Well from U I accept that since U could not even reason that we have to overtake the Pats to win a SB

That's right, your comment is assinine. We have to overtake the Pats to win the divsion, but the Super Bowl, how do we know who's going to play each other in the playoffs?

Not to take away from Joe's accomplishments as a QB, but if he knew how to scout, recruit, draft, sign, coach or manage an NFL team, he's had 40 + years to find a job doing it.

Not that his observations aren't accurate, but I don't see how running to the closest microphone helps the team... does Bart Starr, Dan Marino or Joe Montana comment about every aspect of their former teams?

Joe has been given the "Keys to the City" by the Jets, he should learn that he's an invited guest, not a paid consultant. :)
