The Jets have had 9 OTAs in total and each OTA is a single day, not a week Here's the Jet's OTA schedule:

    New York Jets: OTAs: May 22-24 (3), May 29-31(3), June 4(1), June 6-7(2); Mini-Camps: May 4-6 (rookies), June 12-14

This was Holme's 5th OTA iirc.

And no, NOT according to "everything". Cimini characterized it as a mini meltdown and other reporting seems to indicate that it wasn't just a matter of a simple discussion with the coaches.

FYI and per your request, this was from the ESPN NY page from the guy who does the Jets blog. He also comments on the rest of the AFCE

Limped off the field and threw his helmet. I have seen that countless times on hard knocks, tc tape, ota tape, practices, games, everything. The mini meltdown seems like an overreaction with the words that surround it. Limped off the field and "tossed" his helmet. Not throw, slam, break, etc. Toss.

well maybe that is because a lot of what the jets does are utterly inexplicable.

Holmes is worth nothing to me, i will never forgive him for last seasons ending.

Holmes being a dick is not a media conspiracy against the jets, it is our FO taking a chance on a WR that Steelers discarded for being a dick.

Although this amounts to nothing more then sensationalism, the feeding frenzy is alive and well in the media and they will feast on him until he leaves NY.

The Steelers got a 5th for Holmes but the cost to the Jets has been bigger. Have to wonder how many of you would trade him for a 5th to be rid of him.

Do they have audio of this conversation or something, or is it hearsay? "Hey look, Santonio is approaching Sanjay and talking to him. Must be complaining for sure!" I'm pretty skeptical about Santonio in general, but I'm even more skeptical of ESPN reporting.

  10. I despise the NY media.

This couldn't be more of a non story. Those of you making it into one are the reason the media continues w/ this crap.

He's a child testing where the line is and pushing the envelope. If there's one thing I'm definitely confident with in Sparano it's that he will keep his players in line. This won't be a concern by the time the season rolls around.

what they don’t have treadmills and weights overseas? The real issue is his perceived lack of interest/dedication. That was the real issue last year. Home-boy got paid and now is entitled based on that figure. This is why I HATE HOLMES. Earn your check every week, stay in shape, and support our troops. Really not that much to ask for 11million a year....asshole

Huge difference between a possible injury (a rookie trying to establish himself) and Holmes. Holmes wasn’t in shape PEROID. Dude, I'm not a professional athlete and could handle 30 snaps. Truth is, Holmes hasn’t been committed to football since the end of last season (truth be told he wasn’t even committed then). To be a good pro, its a year round commitment. Either way, homes is and always has been committed to #1; himself. That’s why I didn’t want his ass signed to that big contract last year.

I know this was pages ago but felt it needed to be re-quoted as it's spot on.

Anyone who is upset at this is only upset because they've made up their mind on Holmes already and want to pidgeon-hole all of his decisions/actions/words to fit into their pre-determined negative bias.

Just as they are complaining that he took himself out of reps they would be complaining if he got injured by not taking himself out of reps and say that he should have been smarter and known his limits and taken things slowly.

I'm no Holmes fan either but I can still acknowledge that this isn't a big deal. Especially seeing as he hasn't had as much opportunity to get into shape seeing as he was doing a bunch of charitable things lately.

You ever been to one of these Shorts and T-Shirts practices? That's why Nicks is out for 3 months right? and that's why Stephen Hill sat out practice last week with a tight hamstring,..

These practices are unbelievably easy and anyone in any kind of shape can get through them without injury, specially working in a new system. Holmes is an out of shape cancer and I hope we cut him and eat the Cap space......

    /laugh.

good post. so true. even though there is nothing really to this story, if i see something like this from holmes again, I would trade him in a second for a 5th rounder (if anybody is willing to take him for that)

You delusional Jets fans will do anything to spin the truth away from the facts that Holmes is a scumbag, crybaby, and cancer to a football team.

Right now you try to spin everything into a positive with him. When he's off the team you'll say how good it was to have a douchebag like that off the roster.

I'm going to remember this thread when he's gone. I guarantee some of these same posters will be criticizing him.
