Seriously, usually fans go back to their own message boards at some point? TGG is fun, but this is getting ridiculous. Who the hell cares what Rex has to say? It's coach speak. Some don't say anything but cliches. Some just don't say anything period. Rex chooses to overly praise everyone. Stop taking everything so damn seriously. He's been our coach 3 years now, and some people still haven't figured it out yet...
You're completely delusional. You lost all credibility with me when you had a hissy fit over the blantant cheating your team did & the punishment therein. Why would anyone on here care about your football opinions. 1. Better WR- Other than Marshall over Holmes..where do you come up w/ this? Keller is far superior than any of Miam's tight ends...who else in Miami's recieving corps is superior to the Jets? 2. Better RB- After Bush who do they have? How has he distinguished himself as any better than Greene? As far as I'm concerned he had one decent year w/ several before then as a back-up role player w/ mixed results. Greene has alot to prove, but what makes Bush so superior? Donald Thomas? He's unproven too. 3. Similar QB- When's the last time a Miami QB even PLAYED a playoff game? 4. Funny that you don't mention O-line. You wouldn't want to mention that b/c it doesn't suit your short sighted bias opinion which lacks any substance beyond your bias hatred towards the Jets.
Ooo..how long did it take for you to come up w/ that one? 30 seconds? Oh yeah..you used all your argumentative energy to try & justify football espionage.
Nobody trash talks the Washington Generals message board. These idiots wouldn't be here if their wasn't legit concern about the Jets prospects.
Keep telling yourself that. Ummm, David Lee was the QB coach for Miami in 2008, and he's the one who introduced the Wild Cat. After he left, Sparano continued to use the play, but with much less success. What is Sparano's best quality? His creativity? Nope. His acceptance of new ideas? Nope. His great play calling? Nope. His discipline? Nope. His organizational skills. That, right there, says, "bean counter". Nothing that Sparano did in Miami makes it likely that he will be a particularly good OC. He hasn't shown he can make the most of his players' talents, either. His personal philosphy and Ryan's says, "run the ball", but the Jests aren't good enough on either their OL or at RB to dominate as a run-first team plus they have a QB who likes to check-down excessively, keeping defenders up close to the LOS. That's a recipe for offensive ineptitude. You can deny that reality all you like, but it doesn't change that, but unless the Jets defense can keep teams from scoring more than 1 TD a game and/or the D/STs can set up really short fields, it's likely wins will come few and far between for the Jets in 2012. As a Bills fan, I saw that same scenario play out numerous times on the Bills from 2006-2009 under a HC with a similar conservative mindset as Ryan and Sparano. It was good enough for 6 or 7 wins a year. The wins were boring. The losses were excruciating. Enjoy.
Except he wasn’t even the OC in Miami…he was the HC. So you don’t really know for certain how he will fare..do you? When has Sanchez ever been known to check down excessively? If anything he has a habit of forcing the ball down field or not moving off his primary read. If anything he struggles FINDING his check down option. You still haven’t answered my arguments pertaining to how the Jets aren’t built for the run. How does having 3 pro bowlers on your O-line not fit into running the football? Only good for 6-7 wins? Jets haven’t won less than 8 games since 2007. Haven’t won less than 8 since Rex took over either.
They had a better #1 WR, but there is more to an offense than your #1 WR, like TE, #2 WR, #3 WR, you second TE. They had better RB, but again there is more to RB than just the first guy, especially in this day and age of RB platoons. They had a worse QB. How can you forget about 1/2 of the offense and probably the most or second most important unit in the offensive line. Funny how you talk about offense and then leave out 5/11 of the players.
Catt_County doesn't address points that sink his troll schtick. He just ignores them. I've learned that you're probably better off just ignoring him.
I was replying to an earlier post in the thread from a Jets fan that asked why Schottenheimer gets the blame for us and then when the Dolphins' bad numbers come up Sparano gets the blame. I'm not making excuses or trying to sugar coat anything, try to keep up. Who needs to umm the internet? And right, I'm sure it was the lone mad scientist David Lee that concocted the wildcat while Sparano twiddled his thumbs and prayed at the Matt Cassell effigy. And where did you get this from? His best quality? So now Rex answers a question about the two minute offense and all his qualities are reduced to nil because of what he answered in one question? Logical fallacy. Do you really still get a kick out of using "jests"? Sorry, zero points awarded especially considering the Bills haven't been relevant since they got Music City Miracled in 99. If there's anyone considered the jokes of this division, it's your team. That's based on actual results. Not "Gee golly gosh! We had a good offseason, sure do buy into this Gailey guy!" bull I have to hear from Bills fans at every turn of the year. I have heard the optimism countless times, including last year after 5-0. George Wilson was riding high too, so high he gave a mediocre journeyman QB the big bucks just to see him go 1-10 the rest of the way. Yes, you as a Bills fan have seen a lot of offensive ineptitude. This team is not the Bills and what you continue to experience as part of your fandom does not translate to the Jets. The transitive property does not apply. Anyway, I give you "don't forecast, the guy hasn't called one play" and you give me "wait till you see what I think will happen." At least dumbass Sparano has managed to beat the Jets a few times, unlike ol' Chan. I guess what I mean to say is: cool story, bro.
It would be interesting to know where NE stands on that list as it is Bellishit that Ryan was comparing Sparano to.
On one hand, I tend to agree with you, and despite what I am about to say on the other, it is pretty much where we are now. The con argument, as you well know, and for what it's worth, is we thought we had something different with Ryan when he first came here. At least some of us did, including me. I don't mean to sound like I think the HC should be the quintessence of honesty. Of course not. But things he said back them were often referred to as "refreshing", "blunt but honest", and of course various categories of just plain fun in the No Fun League. That seems long ago. I must admit I found the path from that point to today to be, here and then, a bit deflating. I found myself shaking my head at Rex during too many of his post game pressers last year. But, like you, I have come around to the so what point of view. It's Ryan's style to make statements in support of people on the team that are, at least on some occasions, patently ridiculous and not supported by any facts. Not all, of course. But looking for consistent truth from him is a fool's errand at this point. It is what it is. And in the end, we might as well add, oh well...
To be honest, I'm not too excited about Sparano as OC. My hope is that it's an improvement based on addition by subtraction (-Shotty) and that hopefully his style at least meshes with Rex better to establish a firmer identity on both sides of the ball. His offensive resume doesn't impress though, we'll see.
If nothing else, Sparono has learned in a few weeks, what Shotty didn't pick up on in 3 years... Sanchez is better at handing the ball off, rather than throwing 40+ times a game. Not that Mark is a horrible passer, he did win us a few games, but he is not Peyton Manning. He can not by himself carry the team.
