Well, he is essentially a college kid that just got $4 mill or so to learn the playbook. Its only been about a month since he got the book. If you include daily practice as part of "learning" the book, I could see that as truthful. Just like any of us that got a new job, you spend a little more time being "available" early on then you sort of fade out; but perhaps for $4 mill, you wouldn't fade out. I dunno. I don't think its crazy or impossible.
Well I would love to get some basis for comparison for other players in the NFL and NFL superstars as far as how much time per day they spend with nose in the books. 12 hours sounds quite a bit over the top. Then again, it would likely be different for guys learning a new offense/defense, as opposed to guys who have been in the same system for years.
But that was my point. He is not a veteran or a superstar, just a college kid that is getting paid $4 mill to learn this book. Hey, I work twelve hour days for a lot, lot, lot less. He has also only been "working" for one month. Its just like studying for finals for this guy. Hey, he might probably play Madden Football for 12 hours a day if he was just a regular kid one month removed from college. When he is in his tenth year and putting in that much time, I'll tip my cap.
Right now we can see the player wants to be good. During the season we'll see if he wants to be great!! Hopefully Holmes can help with this.
I think he will be good and im sure he will have an impact starting this year, im pretty excitted about is comming and i hope we will see Sanchez throw him couple of endzone pass loll. Go JETS
I don't have an issue with tone's "attitude" he has a winners attitude as explained by Bill Cowher. It's been some of the decisions he's made outside of the facility thats been his issue.
I have heard that Wide Receiver is the toughest position in the NFL to learn and usually takes around 3 years for them to make the adjustment to a pro style game. Hill had a limited number of catches and balls thrown his way, but when they were, he caught them and for big yards. He's a big, physical receiver, and that can help him make up for lack of experience because he will be able to fight off defenders and fight for the ball. The key is going to be getting him in one on one match-ups (understatement of the year) but its very critical even more-so for him since he will be so green. He has explosion. And he's a big target. He should do well at the goal line. Hopefully, a vet can take him under their wings and keep him from going too far astray.
Agreed and the only one who can do that is Tone. The million dollar question is how good of a mentor will he be? Larry Fitzgerald knew he was good and was satisfied with that..but Kurt Warner pushed him to be great and also to put the team needs before his own. Who can/will do this for our guys?
