Wish Mike the best and hope he has a full and speedy recovery.

"FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- New York Jets special teams coach Mike Westhoff, a bone cancer survivor, underwent surgery last Friday to repair a titanium rod in his left leg and will miss the remainder of the offseason. He's expected to be back for the start of training camp.

Westhoff was missing Thursday from the Jets' OTA session, which was open to the media. After practice, the team announced his surgery.

Assistant special teams coach Ben Kotwica will handle the duties until Westhoff returns."

Westy has surgery like we get haircuts. This one will be a piece of cake for him.

You are THE MAN Mike Westhoff - get back soon! Stay a few more years, and make us thrilled to have Tebow as the blocker on punts. I love that. It's the best use of Tebow I've heard.

    Get well soon coach.

This guy MUST be in football shape come September. Huge concern here.

On a serious note, Westhoff is the man.

  5. I hope they somehow find a way to honor Westhoff after he retires. One thing you can count on from the New York Jets is great special teams. And that's a credit to Westhoff who has been here for quite sometime. The cane has become iconic.

Lets get this guy in the ring of honor. One of the best Jets coaching staff of all time, doubt he ever gets his credit due since the nfl doesnt respect special teams

Its probably not the rod but instead what the rod is attached to.

Jets better do something for Westoff once he retires, it would be a sham if the Organization didn't

couldnt agree more kurt, this guy has been fantastic here. it seems to not matter what happens with anything.. different coaches, different fo, different players... none of it matters this guy takes what he can and makes great special teams groups.

Get Well Westy, you are the best.

Watching a Kotwica thing on NFLN. Looks like an incredible guy. Looks like good hands until Westhoff makes it back.

  12. Kotwica has been Westhoff's understudy for like 4 years now. He comes with a military background. Assuming he grasps Westhoff's scheme & has the same creativity Westhoff does as a playcaller..I agree..the unit remains in good hands.
