It also would seem like overkill. Ellis had to transfer schools. He suffered in the draft due to the incident. He will serve 45 days in jail. And he still faces a civil suit. What more could Godell teach him by punishment?

Now he gets to focus on his defense for the $3M civil suit. He can fight this one with no risk of deportation so game on. Also the jury in the civil suit should be more sympathetic to someone defending his g/f from a lunatic with a bat.

Positive spin.....at 6'4" 350lbs its highly unlikely he becomes someones bitch in prison.

The players union should back Ellis on this. He didn't commit the crime while he was in the Nfl. Goodell should be the next dictator of North Korea, he'd make a fine one.

So whats his status on Jail time? Has he started serving? When will he be out? Will he be in TC? He could be a nice contributor this year

Throw in the crime was committed before the new collecting bargaining agreement was signed and there is a clause in there that says Goodell can not suspend a player for something that took place before the agreement was signed.

Only thing ever decided in a court of law is who hired the better attorney.

    Just ask OJ Simpson.

Good news for Jets. I've been told NFL won't suspend Kenrick Ellis after his Alford plea in assault/battery case stemming from 2010 fight
