Article Here: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7...kely-way-tampa-bay-buccaneers-dallas-clark-in Thoughts On trying to get him in here for depth at TE? I know we really need a solid blocking TE, But if Hayden can fill that role. That ( Keller/Winslow ) could be a devious 2TE set for passing downs. At this point in his career, With his injury history we might be able to get him on the cheap.
lol @ Hayden being a legit blocking TE this year The guy has never played football We would be lucky as hell if he can be a special teamer this year, let alone a legit blocker. id say practice squad or cut are his most likelys
Honestly I would love to Sign him!! 2 te him and Keller and go out for pass. And if we want to run the ball put hunter in as a TE or Ducass.
Ever watched a rugby match? I would assume blocking would be the thing he could pick up the quickest out of all the skills needed to play. He's a big strong guy and I could be wrong but I think blocking TE assignments are pretty straight forward. Also, The way his contract works out, there's no way we're cutting him this year. He's more or less a free practice squad player with huge upside that can't be signed by other teams cause he's not American born. He will be a JET through this year 100%
If we sign a TE it better be someone that can block - this guy sucks at blocking. That said, I'm sure the Jets will trade a 4th rounder for him.
Brodie Eldridge is the TE that would have been a great pickup... Too bad f*cking Schotty stole him infront of us. He would be an okay pickup if for the right price, but we need a blocking TE before another one-dimensional pass catching TE.
I haven't paid much attention to the guy, but I saw his fantasy numbers go up and down last year. If we get another TE, it should be a bruiser for blocking. I don't really think we need that however with Keller, Cumberland, Baker and Hayden. Cumberland seems like he can be beastly in blocking, although we haven't gotten a chance to really see what he can do. Getting injured last year hurt us (and him quite a lot). Baker is decent, and Keller is better as reception guy.
to all who cries about that measly blocking TE: hernandez is that blocking TE for pats, right? (wake up and smell the coffee. it's 2012, not your 1950 football.)
1) Hernandez is paired with Gronkowski, an elite blocking TE 2) Hernandez plays in a completely different kind of offense. If you want ground and pound, you need a TE who can be a good in-line blocker.
No, that would be Gronk, and we're going to be running a 1940's offense at least part of the time so I'd think a blocking TE would be fairly important.
There is no blocking in rugby. There is no part of the game where the same sort of skills are used. Blocking is totally different to the physical contact in rugby. The easiest thing to pick up would be tackling. This is why he may have some success covering on special teams.
