That's one game. You said he had "some" "very good" games last season.

According to PFF he graded out at higher than a +1 in 3 of the 16 games last year, the Miami game being one of them. The highest positive grade he received all year was a +2. Conversely, 8 of the 16 games he was graded at lower than -1. Those range from -3.3 to -6.4. If you considered the +2 performance "very good", I wonder what you would consider the -6.4 performance or even the high end of his poor performances with the -3.3?

FTR, PFF graded him at a +1.4 in the Miami game and he gave up a sack that day.

Why should we be content with a few barely positive games when the majority of his starts were very poor performances?

I have this strange suspicion that Callahan's leaving was some sort of failed interpersonal relationship with in the organization rather than a decision about his coaching abilities. I still have trouble understanding why a former successful OC and HC was allowed to walk when we had an open spot at OC and previous working relationship. I've got no information, just suspicion. Yeah, they didn't let Callahan interview for an OC job if I recall correctly. Maybe that was enough. But I still think maybe something else will come out at some point.

the guy really sounds like a tool. talking shit about the guys who have left and talking up the guys who have sucked.

if they turn into solid olinemen then he can talk.. however talk is cheap, especially this type of douchey bravado.

See, this is just more of your made up bullshit. In the five games Bush had with New Orleans where he had his highest number of carries, he averaged 4.57 yards per carry.

    In NO, when he had 100 or more carries in a season: 3.6, 3.7 & 3.8 YPC, undre 100 carries? 5.0 & 4.5

    what am I making up?

I should be impressed thatt in a blowout of the Gints in his rookie yar he averaged 6 YPc on 20 carries?

20 or more carries in NO:

    2006: 20-126, 6.3 YPC, in 30-7 win over NYG
    2007: 21-67, 3.2 YPC, in 16-13 loss to Car

    very impressive!

    15 or more carries:

    2006:
    15-67 vs. browns, 4.5 YPC
    20-126 vs. NYG, 6.3(blowout game)

    2007:
    21-67 vs. Car, 3.2
    19-97 vs. Sea, 5.1(blowout game)
    17-54 vs. Atl, 3.2
17-72 vs. jax, 4.2(blowout game- noticing a pattern here?)
    15-34 vs. Hou, 2.27

    2008:
    18-73 vs. Den, 4.1

Reggie Bush is a quality player when his carries are limited, he had a good 2nd half for Miami in meaningless action where the team was out of the race, let's see him do it again but that's not going to happen b/c Miami isn't stupid enough to led him be a feature back again which was why they drafted another RB and the carries will be split among 3 RBs now.

It means the same thing it did before the 05 season when Herm and Bradway were talking up Adrian Jones. Hunter is our starting RT, for now.

You said he wears down late in games, when he doesn't. You said he wears down over a season, when his YPC if anything goes up the later in the season the game is played. Perhaps "making it up" is not quite so accurate as "totally ignorant of facts and stuff."

I don't give a fuck if you're impressed or not. The point is, the data matters. You were assuming something when you didn't know the data. Now that you know it you're jumping through a bunch of hoops trying to make your preconceived notions stick.

Great, a bunch of numbers with no context. As for the blowout games, I do notice something there. Generally, when you blow a team out, it's partly because you're running the ball well. So running the ball well = running the ball well. Got it. Great story.

This is backed up by nothing and more speculation. Let's not forget, it was you who brought up all this shit about Reggie Bush as proof that SPARANO is a good coach who coaches up a good running game. When I brought up that Bush was basically the same player he'd been the previous two years, only with more carries (thanks to good health), then you went to the "wears down in games/seasons" argument. Now you're shifting into some weird area only you live in where "blowout" games don't matter. And either way, if Bush only did well in "meaningless action" last year, how exactly does that speak well for Sparano as a coach? And just to put a final bullet into the head of this ridiculous argument, two of Bush's best games last season were AFTER Sparano was fired.

What a bunch of stupid crap it is you peddle. What little thought goes into it.

so the 15 and 20+ carry #s mean nothing? that doesn't show he wore down a bit? maybe he didn't wear down late in seasons but that probably has more to do w/ getting little to no work late in seasons.

It's backed up by nothing? Did you not notice the #s on 15 and 20+ carries?

wasn't that the point? I'll show a little more detail tomorrow.

The numbers you posted still add up to 4.15 YPC, so no.

What it boils down to is this:

When Bush gets 17 or more carries, he averages 4.57 YPC.

When he gets 15 or more carries, he averages 4.15 YPC.

This is the EXACT OPPOSITE of wearing down late in games, and shows exactly what I meant when I said that Reggie Bush's "best season of his career" had everything to do with being used more and staying healthy and nothing to do with Sparano.

All you've done is help prove my point for me. Congrats.

vvv Wayne Hunter nearly getting his QB killed last year.
The initial replay shows the rest of the OL pretty much doing their job. The ground-level replay that follows shows a stiff, cloddish Hunter tossed out of the way by Von Miller like a rag doll leading to a head-on planting of Sanchez with Sanchez' head getting slammed into the ground (wonder what Tebow was thinking watching from the Denver sideline):

Sorry but I'm not buying the "he ain't that bad...he had some good games" line. The Jets hoping to 'survive' at RT just doesn't cut it.

The more Wayne Hunter being Wayne Hunter moments, the greater the odds of Dirty getting spattered followed by: "... now in at quarterback for the Jets,....." which equals a veritable replay of the year Testeverde blew out his achilles and the season going down the drain on the spot. I hate Wayne Hunter AND his post fuck-up sheepish grinning.

Hunter could be a force in the run game, which is what our philosophy is going to be this year. If we have 60 plays on offense a game, and 30 are runs, and 5-10 play action plays, he will only have to pass block 20-25 times a game. The D will be on its heels looking run, and not get the initial burst.

I am not saying he won't give up any sacks, but with a new strategy, he could be a force.

The only time he gets 15/20+ carries is in blowout games so the #s are skewed.

    games w/ 1-5 carries
    50 rushes, 210 yds, 4.2 YPC

    6-10:
    195-870, 4.5

    11-15:
    167-521, 3.1

The 11-15 he wears down b/c it's actually in the flow of a game.

    16-20:
    71-296, 4.2
looks nice but it was only 4 games and 2 of them were blowout games

    20+
    41-193, 4.7

again, LOOKS nice but there were only 2 games and one was a blowout game

In NO over 100 carries in a season: 3.7 YPC
under 100 carries in a season: 5.1 YPC

He's not an every down back. Last year his #s looked really good but peel away and realize most of the good #s came after the dolphins were out of playoff contention.

    During 0-6 start:

    60 carries, 232 yds, 3.9 YPC

    games 7 through 15:

    156 carries, 854 yds, 5.5 YPC

you are right, I should only speak glowingly of him. I'll ignore the FACT that the more carries he got in NO the more hos YPC went DOWN and I'll only focus on the great late game stretch in 2011 in meaningless games b/c as we know that tells us all we need to know about players. I envy Miami w/ such clutch players like reggie and matt Moore they may be the NFL's next dynasty.

Fuck that we should hope for the best and the best situation is that Vlad comes in and beats Hunter for that RT spot

The problem is that Adrian Jones wound up starting 16 games in 2005 and was a major reason the Jets sucked, alongside Fabini getting hurt and losing a step a year or two early and Kevin Mawae going out with the biceps tear.

If Wayne Hunter starts 16 games next season we'll be really lucky to get out of it at 8-8 and we'll most likely be in full rebuild on the offensive side in 2013 from the QB on down.

On what planet do blowout games not count? Seriously?

And let's not forget in all this talking about a fuckface like Reggie Bush that it was YOU who were using his performance to say that Sparano is a going to be a good offensive coordinator.

Whether you're correct about your point or not, I'm actually not all that interested in. What I was hinting at, is trying to wake you up out of your Reggie Bush frenzy. I did notice that it started off with you trying to validate your opinion on Sparano, but wallpaper'ing a WFH thread with YPC stats of Reggie is... just not doing it for me, really.

at no point did I say Sparano was going to be a good OC, I have no idea what he will be as an OC. I brought it up b/c people criticized his OLs in Miami and my point was 3 of the 4 years he was there he had really good run games and Reggie Bush had his best season by far w/ one of those OLs last year.

In Blowout games the pressure tends to come off and guys pad stats(winning and losing) much like when teams start 0-7 and the season is over.
